What we say

In an age where the leaning is towards reclaimed, bygone and aged interiors, the stark freshness and modern look of 2 Rooms Restaurant in Clifton Village is, quite literally, refreshing.

Situated on the old site of Keith Floyd's restaurant (who was a strong influence on the new owner), 2 Rooms enjoyed growing popularity in its first year.

Having spent years in the trade, owner Maria decided to take the plunge and open her own restaurant, serving a mix of classic favourites, some with interesting twists. And stepping through the doors of this homely boutique restaurant, you get the distinct feeling that you are being cooked for and served by people for whom this is not so much about a vast profit than as a labour of love. Choosing from the interesting menu of 8 starters and 10 mains is difficult, especially as Maria insists, "Every dish is my favourite".

A good start might be farmhouse pâté served with toasted croutons and red onion marmalade; or a huge bowl of gloriously fresh mussels cooked in wine, garlic and parsley. Main courses, which are all served with baby roasties, include a very lean fillet of pork filled with a fresh mango mouse wrapped in bacon and served with a piquant sauce on an unusual oblong plate; Mediterranean vegetable frittata served with a mixed salad and pesto dressing; and the wonderful fillet steak with green peppercorn sauce and parsnip shavings.

The restaurant, as the name suggests, consists of 2 rooms; one at street level and the other a cosy basement room. Carefully chosen décor and accessories allow both rooms to have an intimate feel, with unusual LED spotlights changing colour in little alcoves, vivid block art oil paintings, large mirrors, and leather-upholstered seating, all giving an air of chic elegance to the venue.

I visited 2 Rooms with 2 friends, one of which was very late due to problems finding somewhere to park, but the restaurant were ok with the wait & the waiter was very friendly.

All our food was delicious & we had the desert recommended by the waiter which was excellent.

The only slight issue was the wait between starter & main course, but my friends & I had lots to catch up with so it wasn't too bad.

Becoming a firm favourite with my whole family. Excellent food and lovely ambience. Have had breakfast and dinner there and always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately last time we went we had to wait well over an hour for our food, which was a bit disappointing but it was worth the wait. Will certainly visit again.

fantastic little place - well it is cosy looking from the outside, but then there is the second room to host even a group of people. the food was absolutely delicious, tasty and fresh. There was nothing really to improve and the service was fabulous too. So definitely a place I would go back to and would take friends and family to.

Eaten in the evening and food was very good, and a nice atmosphere! However have been twice for breakfast and it was awful... we waited over an hour both times, first time the eggs looked deep fried so we told the lady/owner who was quite rude and unhelpful - hence we wont be back for breakfast!

Cosy restaurant in Clifton. had some lovely food here with friends. Would recommend it for a romantic night out for sure. I really liked the steaks served here and there's a great choice of decent wines.
