What we say

This has seen a return to form in recent times and although still predominantly a traditional pub, set off the Hotwells Rd, the food is better than average pub grub and hits the spot for most occasions. Try the Old Spot sausages, mustard mash and onion gravy or the rump steak with handcut chips. There are even hints of a more adventurous culinary mind in the kitchen with the likes of goats cheese and red pepper bruschetta. It's solid fare and popular for lunches with a pint.

Really surprised at how cosy the pub felt with the fire on and low background music on (rather than loud or sounding too quiet). Excellent range of ales and wines with a good menu; a handful of special mains and good sized 'standard' menu with all the pub usuals on. I had the 'fish and chips' and my partner the steak; the fish was huge, cooked perfectly with a beautiful batter - i dont think i have enjoyed this dish as much in years, for the size it was really good value as well! The steak was from a local farm (the sign says from a place near bath, so really local) and was cooked just right, presented well and tasted great!!! Definately coming back in the new year!!!

I had the sunday roast beef.

Fair sized portion, the beef was well cut and the roast potatoes were nice and crispy too.

serving staff are bar staff so don't expect too much in the way of service but it is a pub not a restaurant!

Ambiance is great, a real friendly pub with great atmosphere.

Prices are fairly standard for Clifton pub food.

Well worth a stop over as they also do a fine selection of real ales and ciders.

Lovely little pub, menu contains all the pub 'usuals'. However, they are all cooked and presented very well. 3 of my party had the belly of pork which was to die for, tender succulent and cooked to perfection. I bucked the trend with the seafood stew which again was delicious, mussels, prawns etc in a delicious sauce. Reasonable choice of wines and the ales were popular with the boys. All in all would day was a lovely meal, service not brilliant but it is a pub and not a restaurant.

We thought we would be in for a treat when we visited the Adam & Eve for a Sunday lunch, however, came away feeling a little conned. The beef saved the day! Apart from that it was very disappointing, no real taste to the food, frozen yorkshire pudding - not what I was expecting from this place. Staff didnt seem that bothered to be helpful plus one of them dropped knives and forks on the floor and he didnt pick them up neither did any other staff member, they were just walking over them!
