What we say

A smart, contemporary cocktail bar which was originally opened by former England fast bowler and Bristol club owner Dave 'Syd' Lawrence, this remains a stylish place to hang out and watch the world of Whiteladies Rd pass by the windows (which open during the summer). The dark brown sofas, highs stools at the bar and plasma screens add to the slick urban feel which isn't quite matched by the food. Melts, wraps and good sarnies are the order of the day and the Sunday lunch is popular.

Alibi is pretty local and I met a friend for some food before heading down Whileladies for the evening.

The menu tries to be a bit more special than pub grub and in some ways delivers but is let down by the poor service and hastily put together feel to the presentation though for a quick "pit stop" it is more than adequate.

The prices were OK for Whiteladies and the portions were fine.

The only real problem with Alibi is it's on-off opening, some weeks it is closed all week others it appears to be open for a few nights.
