What we say

Aqua's namesake in Bristol has been pulling in diners for over 10 years and Bath's version looks set to do the same for its foodies. To be found in the boho quarters of Walcot St, the restaurant immediately earns a good score for the quirky building it now occupies. A former church house, it is considered to be one of Bath's finest arts and crafts buildings with its grand dining hall, gallery, courtyard and private dining cubicles. The food is primarily Italian with Mediterranean fusions thrown in for good measure but the Italian chef pushes the boundaries beyond the standard pasta and pizza choices. Open all day.

There wa was something about Aqua that we had tired of, so it's been a long time. I didn't review the disappointing visits! The venue has has a very tasteful makeover & I think maybe a new chef ??? We felt there was a great lift to the whole place since our last visit. The calves liver was divine but I would prefer they didn't serve it with their choice of potato, let me pick my own "sides" please. Next time I 'll ask to change it, They were very busy for a mid week evening but we had no complaints nor did we witness any around us! Staff, were welcoming pleasant and helpful. What more could you want, escpecially as it was the Invitation diner's card that tempted us back, so one meal was free; no such thing as a free "meal" oh yes there is!

I first went to Aqua on the recommendation of a friend and took a party of 12. The service was so friendly and helpful the whole party felt comfortable and relaxed within minutes. The Italian menu has dishes to suit all tastes and the food is delicious. Between us we ordered a variety of dishes, antipasta pasta carne and pizza, and everyone expressed their complete satisfaction with their choice.

It was such a delightful evening that I went back tonight, less than a week later, and was equally impressed. The pasta was perfect, the staff superb and the ambience delightful.

Fifteen of us in total all give this pleasing, friendly restaurant and ist delicious Italian food top marks.

15th and 24th! Yes, we've been back to Aqua TWICE in July, once with another couple and once "just the two of us" Both visits as fabulous as our first. 'Though the four of us went on a very busy Friday night, service was slow, (many complaints were abounding) What is it with these restaurants that feel it's O.K. to leave so much time between a first and second course, a breather is one thing but that particular Friday, I thought was going to turn into Saturday! Have said that; the pasta duck dish, sea bass and calves liver were all excellent!

I don't know why, but walking past this establishment in its early days It didn't appeal. Then I read some reviews and thought let's give it a try. So glad we did,; it was a very busy Thursday evening (what credit crunch?) This place was buzzing! but that all added to the true Italian atmosphere. There were big parties, family groups and couples and I believe we all got the same excellent service. The portions are generous and the waiting staff knowledgeable. I was expecting a bit of a higher price tag on this one but as usual, with the invitation card, it turned out to be superb value for money

Went to this restaurant for the first time with a large party. We had pre-ordered but from a large menu. The food was delicious and a perfect sized portion. The drinks menu was great and we all had cocktails. The atmosphere was lovely although we were downstairs which didn't seem as nice as the upstairs. The price was reasonable considering the quality of the food. The service was good and overall a great night was had at Aqua! Compared to the many other italians in the city it sits high on my list.
