This 70-strong chain, owned by the Tragus Group, has been bringing us the taste of beautiful Italy since the early 1990s. The huge menu ranges from the Bella breakfast (try the full Inglese if you dare) through pastas, pizzas, grills etc to the mountainous desserts and is very suitable for families (children get an activity book) and parties but, for those with a gondola to catch, they have recently launched a Lunch Express Menu.

I have been here many times before but our recent visit was somewhat disappointing. To say the service was slow would be an understatement, we felt almost ignored (and bear in mind there were only 4 other people in the restaurant at the time), we waited 15 minutes before we were asked about drinks. The food was mediocre and not to the usual standard at all, pasta was luke warm and fairly tasteless. We ordered the Godfather to share for dessert (Nutty chocolate fudge brownies, vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate crunch, hot chocolate sauce, fresh cream and wafer curls) which was a pricey mistake. £7.50 for one small scoop of chocolate icecream, 2 2cm pieces of chocolate brownie with the huge bowl then filled up with squirty cream. There were 3 tiny chocolate crunchy crumbs on the top, no hot chocolate sauce, no wafers, no vanilla ice cream. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, she just smiled as she did not speak English. We asked to speak to the manager and explained our disatisfaction with the £7.50 dessert to be told that noone had complained about it before! Having been to this restaurant many many times, always enjoying good quality, value for money food, we wont be visiting again! Very very disappointed!

The food is not that great as I thought, but the price is fine. Also the service is not satisfying. We won't go there anymore

The food in all the Bella Italia's that I have eaten in have been OK but nothing special. Same goes for the service and ambience only OK. Not much else to say really...
