What we say

An Italian restaurant offering familiar Italian food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Bellini's continues to provide high-quality Italian food to its loyal customers. Since 2003 it has maintained a philosophy of "elegance without extravagance", and this has contributed to making it one of the most popular eateries around.

Located in the Heart of Cardiff Bay, set in a lovely spot overlooking the beautiful Quay (if you book well in advance you might be lucky enough to get a window table), this restaurant stands out not only for its quality of food, but also attentive and courteous service.

The food at Bellini's is a mixture of traditional Italian favourites and contemporary cuisine. As well as the popular calzone, you can create your own pizza from an extensive list of authentic fresh toppings, or try something from the extensive list of pasta dishes, from the traditional canneloni spinaci to the original penne spezzatino – pasta tubes with slices of fillet steak, mushrooms, plum tomatoes, garlic and a touch of chilli. And, of course, you can finish off with one of a selection of authentic Italian desserts, from indulgent tiramisu to classic profiteroles.

Complement your meal with one of a good selection of wines and Champagnes, or of course a rich, smooth espresso. Whatever your choice, this heady mix of exceptional service, great food and superb presentation will make sure you have a meal to remember at Bellini's.

Great menu - some traditional italian but also has some more unusual pasta dishes. Food is consistently good and reasonably priced. My favourite restaurant in the bay.

Ordered the arrabiata penne. It arrived within minutes and was incredibly spicy. Actually hurt my throat. I am not adverse to chili and have had this dish countless times before. I then removed the chopped equivalent (with seeds) of about 5 whole red and green chillis and tried again. Still way to spicy- I could not taste anything else for the next 10 minutes. Sent it back- they told me it was supposed to be like that. I said I know the dish well and never been like that. They said it was their way!

I ordered porcini instead- it was completely tasteless!

I don't think dealt with the complaint well. Made me feel uncomfortable and on glancing into the kitchen I saw great vats of pre-prepared sauce. Didn't like the atmosphere- felt like a real pack em in place.

I love this place. My partner and I love the food here, the service was excellent but I felt that we could have been given a bit more time between courses.

I visited, twice in two nights!! On both occasions the food was fantastic, cooked to order and full of flavour a really enjoyable culinary experience. The service was good, with starters out quickly and no huge wait between the the courses, the staff were friendly even if sometimes it seemed to have their mind elsewhere however this was only on the a couple of times on the first visit.

The atmosphere was really enjoyable, fun warm and friendly and being able to see the kichen is something different. Overall it was extremly enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone.

    Thank You

We went to the bay looking for a romantic venue in which to eat and certainly found it in Bellini's!

The food which was cooked to order was delicious and service discreet yet attentive.

To top it off my boyfriend proposed at the end of the meal!

    A really wonderful evening.

    Thank you!

  • Birthday meal at Bellinis

I visited Bellinis for the first time on my birthday this year. We had not booked but we were accommodated at a lovely table overlooking the Bay. The waiter was friendly and helpful when I explained my dietary requirements (I hate cheese and wanted to make sure none ended up in or on my pasta, as it so often does). He was understanding and spoke to the chef to ensure no occult cheese would be in my food, which I greatly appreciated.

I declined a starter as I wanted to save room for pudding but for my main course I chose penne arrabiata with a side order of garlic bread. I often have this dish at Italian restaurants and Bellinis served up a very tasty version which would certainly make it into my top ten of penne arrabiatas (and I've eaten quite a few in my time!) My other half had a seafood pizza, which he said was very nice, although it featured some slightly unusual food combinations. Puddings were tasty although the desert menu was somewhat generic e.g. chocolate bombe, tiramisu, cheesecake.

Overall the meal cost about the same as many of the other Italian restaurants I've dined at in Cardiff, approximately £36 for the two of us including two glasses of wine. However, what sets Bellinis apart is its location and ambience. I look forward to eating there again.
