When I come back to the uk for a visit I like to take my kids out for a nice meal. Decided to try the Blue Mango. How glad we all were that we did. The food was just lovely, couldn't fault it at all. There were 5 of us, 5 different starters and mains and all of it tasted wonderful. It is very reasonably priced and the service was good. Will certainly visit again when I go back.

New Years Eve Nightmare
Rating - Overall: 2 Food: 1 Service: 2 Ambience: 2
1 Jan 2010
For what was ment to be an evening out to celebrate New Years turned into an extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. We arrived at the Blue Mango around 10.30pm and were seated. We ordered poppadoms, onion bhaji's and drinks, followed by a vegetable pathia, vegetable masala, pilau rice to share and a plain naan bread. This was all ok apart from the fact we were still eating our starters when the waiter removed our plates and poppadom basket to serve our main dishes. Bearing in mind I am a vegetarian, and we had only ordered vegetable dishes, I was not very happy to find chunks of chicken in my dish, the sauce was also far too sweet. Furthermore, a medium pathia dish turned out to be far hotter than many madras dishes we have tasted. Apologies were made for the chicken in the masala dish, and I was served a vegetable masala - that still was still too sweet. I do not want to sound like a difficult customer but the Lager was also on its way out, or the pipes needed cleaning. I am an honest customer and have tasted curries all over the UK, and I have to say this is by far the worst I have had. To top it off when I asked for the bill, he held it in his hand and uttered the words £40.00, to which I then asked to see the bill. No discount had been made whatsoever. We left dissapointed, not feeling very well, and will most definitely not be returning to the Blue Mango. I am sitting here writing this in bed on New Years Day with stomach cramps...I am not advising people to avoid the Blue Mango at all costs but would recommend you consider other options first and use the Blue Mango as a last resort.

When we arrived we were told that no booking had been made in my friend's name. After waiting outside for that friend they finally found our booking (for four people instead of fourteen) and finally sorted out some tables for us and seated us. After that everything was really good. The food was interesting and delicious. You can get things that are a bit different, but traditional indian stuff too. The atmosphere was nice too, and in the end it was a very enjoyable evening and I left happily stuffed!
