Restaurant, brasserie, bar, deli, bakery and cookery school, all under one roof on the Bristol Harbourside.
The restaurant, on the first floor, has fantastic views of the harbour and serves sophisticated, provincial European dishes. It offers an extensive wine list, a dedicated wine bar area and wine tastings. Private dining facilities and event catering are also a part of the restaurant experience.
Since opening in September 2006, Bordeaux Quay has achieved international acclaim as the UK's first "eco restaurant" and, along with Barny Haughton, Chef and Proprietor, has won numerous awards for its outstanding contribution to food education, sustainable practice and excellent cooking. Bordeaux Quay serves the very best in local, seasonal and organic food.

Visited here with some friends for their Birthday and it was their choice to try Bordeaux Quay. At first we were not sure where to go because as well as the restaurant you also have the Brasserie on the ground floor and there is one reception desk as you come into the building. However once directed upstairs we were shown to the Bar area, but the staff didn’t seem to like me not sitting down at the tables, but instead looking at the bottles at the bar and wanted me to sit down whilst they explained the drinks on offer. However the drink selection was good and the wine choice very good as well although does get very expensive very quickly. We started on the house wine, full expecting to go for something else but as it was so good stuck with it.
Our food orders were taken whilst in the bar area by a very pleasant gentleman who could answer all the awkward questions some of my friends asked. We were then shown to our table, which was a great large round table, which I do really appreciate as I love being able see all of my friends without having to peer around each other.
Starters duly arrived and my linguine was lovely and varied and a good selection of different breads were also offered (I particularly loved the sourdough rolls) I was pleasantly surprised at the size of my main course of veal and even more pleased with the quality and taste of it. The cheese board for pudding was good, although as I often find, not enough crackers for the amount of cheese on offer. However more crackers were provided as soon as this was mentioned which was nice.
Overall a good atmosphere, good food, good wine and good company and not too bad bill!

Lunchtime Saturday; Already warned that there was no feta cheese for the meze (even though we could see it in the fridge in the deli). 8 of us ordered starters and mains; 4 of us ordered the lamb burger. They brought out 2 starters and only then told us that there were no lamb burgers. One of us requested that if she were to have to select another main she would want to change her starter as she had picked a started to complement the main. That was a massive problem said the staff as the starters were nearly already made. WHY did they wait until now then to tell us no lamb then and make out we were in the wrong to ask for another starter. Eventually my starter arrived but no others. So three of us started to nibble at starters, feeling embarassed our other friends had nothing. eventually I got up to ask if others would be getting food as my starter is now cold. Some more starters eventually arrived. Mains followed in the same fashion, food was medocre at best, we ordered 2 side dishes of fries 1 arrived and the other arrived AFTER we had finished our mains presumably this was our dessert?. 2 suitably embarassed waiting staff did their best to cover for shocking miss-management in the kitchen. How THEY could teach cooking lessons is beyond belief unless of course they do egg boiling classes; that is about their limit. We refused to pay service and got some chocolates instead, which was considerate but what we really wanted was food that was on the menu to be available and to arrive on time. Never, ever again.

I have just read glowing reviews of Bordeaux Quay. The (very expensive) meal we had at the restaurant last night was utterly mediochre - the sort of meal that you would serve up to the family on a dreary Monday evening, when you didn't have any seasoning to hand. It was flavourless, poorly executed, which was depressing as the ingredients themselves seemed to be of good quality. One vegetarian pasta dish was so bland that we complained about it (and to be fair, they did not charge us), and the rest of the meal failed to impress on any level. My vegetarian son found himself eating a falafel for £3.00 at the van round the corner after we left! We shall not be coming back.

Bordeaux Quay has established itself as a firm favourite in our household. As requested, they had the champagne waiting for us at the bar when we arrived, and we enjoyed the atmosphere as we sat and drank. The food is out of this world, and the staff are very passionate and knowledgeable about the menu. Well worth a visit. Good veggie options too.

We had managed to get an overnight babysitter so to make the most of this rare occurance we decided to eat out. Bordeaux Quay was recommended. The service was fantastic - staff were very friendly and happy to make recommendations for both food and wine, food excellent - very tasty and good size portions. Overall. a very enjoyable experience.
Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall was also dining in the restaurant which is a clear indication of the quality of food.

Had a lovely time. Very quiet on the night which meant we had brilliant service. Food portion was small but food very rich. I recommend for a special evening and some fine dining. Still waiting to try the downstairs restaurant where i'm told the food is just as good but in a more casual environment.

We came here on a wintry Friday night and had a lovely dinner...started with apertifs in the bar. So nice to be in a bar by the river that isn't loud and full of chavs. Good ambience, great wine and you have to respect the admirable ethos set by the owners here

I have been to the restaurant a few times I have to say it's one of the most majestic dining rooms I have had the pleasure to eat in. it's just a shame the food isn't up to the standards set by the surroundings and service.
As you walk through the brassiere up the big wooden staircase you feast your eyes on what can only be classed as a beautiful dining room. The service I have had here has always been A1, very professional indeed.
My problems are that the prices for the food which I remember my main course being £24 for a Fillet of Halibut on the excessive side for what you actually get.
I wish I could remember more about the food as I had had 3 courses here twice but it obviously has not been that memorable which is unfortunate.
I think myself and my partner had 3 courses and a bottle of wine, which came to £120
Beautiful restaurant, great service but overpriced in my opinion

So many people have raved about this restaurant that I had to try it! Have to say though, my husband and I found it disappointing. It's a nice place and the service was ok but the menu selection was very narrow and not very exciting. I know they promote themselves on being organic and wholesome but hey some interesting combinations and flavours wouldn't go amiss....

I feel the need to fly the flag for Bordeaux Quay restaurant. I've been several times in the past year, and have never been disappointed with the food. It's fresh, seasonal and locally sourced. There is an emphasis on sustainability - I believe the table water is recycled from rain water, and both sparkling and still water is provided free as a matter of course - how refreshing not to have to ask for it and not to get an odd look when you don't want to pay ridiculously inflated prices for branded bottled water. The service is good - occasionally over-attentive if the restaurant isn't that busy. The set lunches are excellent value, and the surroundings are plush with widely spaced tables. Don't be put off. This is one of the best restaurants in Bristol.

A party of four of us went to celebrate the end of a month long visit by a relative from the US. Restaurant virtually empty. Service attentive. My starter was undercooked fish and had to be sent back. My main course was tepid, but being English I just mentioned it, without making a huge fuss. The manager gave us all desserts on the house, which was good. He said he'd just started and he was looking "to change lots of things around here." The reat of the meal was well-presented and tasty, but, of course, these problems took up a lot of our time and attention...Overall, I would not recommend it at the momnet
