What we say

Quirky & bohemian, Café Retro is a hip and hugely-popular hangout by day and a fully-licensed bar and restaurant by night.

One of Bath’s most long-standing independent establishments, Café Retro provides value for money whilst supporting local and organic suppliers.

As well as an excellent breakfast menu, during the day the menu evolves to include paninis and light meals.

During the evening an à la carte menu is available, offering many different dishes each week. Mains include dishes such as honey breast of duck with fondant potato, braised root vegetables and a star anise sauce, and desserts are worth treating yourself to, including strawberry crème brûlée and Black Forest gateau.

I went for lunch with my family. The food was average, but the service was really disappointing. I wanted a high chair for my 5 month old baby who had just started weaning. They did have one high chair but, there was no harness and in my opinion was not safe for a small baby who had only just started sitting up. I advised the staff, neither of whom were interested and both were rude and dismissive about my concerns for my baby and others using the high chair.

It was embarassing and disappointing as I was the one who had recommended lunch there in the first place (previous visits have always been great)
