What we say

It's impossible to think of France without imagining yourself at the quintessential Gallic café, enjoying all of the culinary charms that our friends over the Channel have to offer. Now you don't actually have to take that journey to recreate this kind of dining experience. Sit back and experience that "je ne sais quoi" of French know how that makes Café Rouge such a popular choice.

Breakfast could be croissants, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toasted brioche or savoury pancakes filled with mushrooms. For lunch and dinner try onion soup or deep fried camembert to start, then move onto smoked Toulouse sausages or the classic beef Bourguignon.

Put all of this together with some fantastic wines and a varied children's menu to keep the little ones happy, and you'll be glad you tried a taste of France - even if it's just for a little while. Bon Appetit!

Here is my review of the 3 I've been to in Bristol in short.

Cabot = Amazing, steak and that garlic sauce is the 2nd best I've had in my life

Park Street = Again great, however I've known a few meals to go back to the kitchen.

The Mall Cribbs = God dam awful. It just seems the wrong type of place to put an open plan Cafe Rouge. I had a medium steak that, well to me hadn't seen a grill and was still breathing.

    Cabot is thumbs up favourite

Having never visited a Cafe Rouge before, we were very pleasantly surprised. The service was great, and the food enjoyable - in particular my partner's dessert (a selection of several) .For someone who doesn't like to miss out, this is always a winner. It may be a chain, but that helps - if I go to a Cafe Rouge somewhere else I can expect similar quality.

I spent the evening with friends, even in the run up to Christmas, the restauarnt did not feel crammed like others as the tables still have gaps between them. The ambience was just right, nice background music but we could easily hear our conversation. The specials board was impressive, guinea fowl (which I chose) and duck confit or cassoulet. Wonderful food, good service and I cannot wait to go back. This place never lets me down.

Had a great evening meal here - used our Invitations card and got a great deal - food was excellent, service good, the place is nicely done out - good place for a romantic meal.
