North St in Bedminster has seen double helpings of great new eateries opening in recent years and this small converted shop is one of them. Heavily influenced by the birthplace of its owners, the café offers a choice of traditional fare, like a range of English breakfasts, sandwiches and salads to go alongside the more interesting Turkish menu. The mezze to share is a good introduction if you're not familiar with the cuisine - a mix of starter dishes - and the chef's specials will satisfy the meat lovers out there. There's also good vegetarian options, a children's menus and don't forget the legendary baklava to finish off with.

I went here with a solicitor friend and I can honestly say I won't be going back after what they told me about the owner. Lets just say he is well known in legal circles for certain offences and has to sign a register. I certainly wouldn't go here with female acqaintances or kids.

Great for casual dining

A great little place on North Street. The food is good and reasonably priced. We had the mezze and then I had the chicken shish grill and my partner had the lamb shish grill. It was tasty, well-cooked and nicely presented. One of our friends had the sea bass which was so huge she couldn't finish it.
They had a couple of birthdays the night we went, so we were suddenly thrust into darkness with a turkish version of Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday blaring through the restaurant. Within minutes, everyone was clad in either a fez or a scarf and we were all expected to join in with our tambourines. Cheesy, but good fun.
Great for a casual night out, but you may need to book on a Friday/Saturday night - they turned away 3 parties while we were there.

Fez and mezze

Recently went to a friend's birthday, all ordering the special. For £16.95 had a mixed mezze start, meat, rice and veg main, baklava and apple tea. Was totally stuffed halfway through main, as is with Turkish food, even though I made a special effort not to eat too much flat bread. The lady who runs it is full of beans and for every birthday there's a ritual, involviing song and dance where initilaly you feel embarrssed to be dancing in a restaurant wearing a fez, belly dancer's jangle and huge cloak, but equally , 2 minutes later, refuse to let someone else have the tambourine.
A great place if you don't mind your cheeks hurting from laughing and good photo opportunties, but don't to forget to tell them it's ya birthday!

Caffe Sazz is a little gem on North Street. Very friendly and attentive staff. Loved the food > I had a mixed mezze and my friend had the veg mezze - we were both very impressed with the size of the serving, and the food was exquisite. Really.
Sazz is near my office so will be visiting more often.

Turkish Delight!

Walked past Caffe Sazz on North St on many a occasion without ever going in, after a superb Saturday lunch don't think I will be walking by quite so easily in the future! Small, intimate and authentic just about sums up first impressions. The three of us had just a main course and had between us the Lamb or Chicken Shish with Salad washed down with a very reasonably priced couple of pints. Quality of the food was faultless. Service was a little on the slow side but well worth the wait. They are currently promoting an offer for New Years Eve which at £30 a head for a 5 course meal is worthy of serious consideration.

My friend and I had a really superb lunch today. The atmosphere reminded me of a friendly cafe/restaurant in Istanbul, complete with 'Top of the Turkish Pops' on widescreen dvd (with not-overpowering singing.) The waitress was charming and friendly. The food was reasonably priced, with large portions and fantastic flavours and presentation. Our mixed mezze included lovely variations of dishes. It all seemed very fresh and authentic, and I can't wait to go back! It took rather a long time to get our food but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter today.

Eating out at Caffe Sazz was a delightful experience; it's softly-lit and beautifully furnished in the Turkish way. There is a good selection on the menu - I opted for a meat stew which was absolutely delicious followed by baclava for dessert. The owners are friendly, chatty and enthusiastic about their menu. There are a range of Turkish beers for sale as well as wines and spirits. The restaurant is rather small and can fill up quickly - there's also an al-fresco experience with tables on decking at the front. All in all an enjoyable experience.
