Complete joke of a restaurant!

Went here for my friend's hen night and I can only assume that the few good reviews on here were written by the owner of Capocci.
The description of the restaurant on here is completely false. One example is the 'traditional' music. Would you call Steps and Leo Sayer traditional music? Also there are some clues to the quality of food when a restaurant claims to specialise in 3 different styles of cuisine. The truth of these 'specialisms' is that pretty much every meal on the menu is made using the same sauce. Also check out the website, a 5 year old could have done a better job! Full of poor design and spelling/grammar issues.
I was so worried about coming here after reading the reviews that I emailed the restaurant, who assured me that they had been 'plagued' by one person leaving bad reviews. Hmmm. This 'one person' has got around - there's bad reviews on here, Google, tripadvisor and countless other websites.
Sadly I experienced exactly what these reviews state. This place should be shut down, frankly. Some notable gaffes of the evening:
- Upon arrival the waitress was annoyed that we had turned up 5 mins early, even though our table was ready.
-We were taken to an upstairs room which had "happy hen party" scrawled badly on a chalkboard, ugly decor and a strange smell. It looked like the Faulty Towers of the culinary world!
-We appeared to only have one waiter which made service slow, despite the fact that all the food had blatantly just been microwaved.
-No presentation at all. Worse than the stuff someones nan would have done in the 1970s. I'm talking iceberg lettuce, random slab of tomato and sliced onion salad with EVERYTHING shoved on the plate, looking wilted and rather sad.
-My vegetarian 'canneloni' was 'garnished' with a chunky slice of raw carrot in the middle. (It also tasted like a ready meal that had been scraped off the floor of the Lidl warehouse... only worse)
-My starter of stuffed mushrooms with tomato sauce and crispy breadcrumb topping was soggy and used the same sauce as the canneloni... and my friends chili con carne... and the bolognese... I could go on about this recycling of sauce.
-The fish in white wine sauce was clearly boil in the bag... only worse.
-The wine was warm and tasted like wee... only worse.
-The plates were so small that the waiter was touching the food with his grotty fingers and they made no effort to wipe the edge of the plates so there were dribbles of food all over it smudged with the waiters finger prints. VILE
-We were not offered desserts (not that we would have taken it)
-I felt sick afterwards.
-One person who had fajitas said there was no spice in it whatsoever, the other person who had it had their head nearly blown off.
-The burrito came with 'roast potatoes.' First of all, just why? And second of all, they were not roast potatoes they were just boiled ones. Bizarre.
-The rice with the burrito was and I quote 'welded to the plate' presumably from microwaving or reusing a half eaten one from the day before and keeping the old rice on.... only worse
-Everyone got Paella rice. It came with the burrito, the chilli, everything.
All in all, hideous. I'm just glad I was prepared thanks to reading the reviews before hand!

Avoid at ALL costs!!

My short review would be to never, ever visit this restaurant. I personally had a Groupon voucher, pre-paid. If I'd have known the quality of all- restaurant, service AND food, I would have cut my losses and gone to Pizza Hut!
I have made an official complaint to Groupon and it is as easy to cut and paste my complaint here than rewrite my multiple complaints;
"Three Course Meal With Coffee For Two for £18 at Capocci (Up to £45.90 Value), Nottingham.
I took my mum yesterday as a treat and can honestly say I have never eaten in a worse restaurant.
We went in at 11am after opening times say that they opened from 10am, to be met with a very miserable woman who spotted our Groupon voucher in my hand and briskly announced 'We don't cook food until 12.' We decided to visit some shops and call back in an hour.
On returning at 12.30 we were told to find our own seats and sat towards the back of the restaurant. We both visited the toilets, which were...minimal. The stairs to the toilets were very steep and dirty. The toilets themselves were taken directly from the 70s with no hand wash but were relatively clean. The added bonus of the sounds from someone stood on the fire exit coughing their guts up gave me a sense of what was to come.
An extremely surly and fatigued waitress gave us our menus which seemed varied with a wide range to choose from. She returned to take our drinks order and when I told her we knew what food we wanted too, she rolled her eyes and sighed 'Go on then.'. Now I am not used to this service and do not expect this service whether I have pre-paid or not. It was embarrassing for my mother and I to have to deal with the staff's attitudes, although we felt sorry for the waitress, almost as if she knew how bad everything was and that she was embarrassed herself.
I would have liked to say that the food made up for it, but I would be lying. We both chose Garlic mushrooms to start and Chicken Pollo Crema for main.
The Garlic mushrooms were clearly microwaved in butter and lathered in pepper. They were rubbery and crispy at the same time, and most likely tinned. I couldn't taste the garlic at all. The french bread served with it was dry. The pollo crema sauce was clearly from a jar, having again been microwaved it was served with a thick skin on it by the time it reached our table. The chips were a mixture of fresh, and a selection of black, burnt fries which had obviously not been cleaned out of the fryer. The chicken tasted processed but could have been 'fresh', it was hard to tell through the disgusting sauce.
Needless to say we didn't eat much. For dessert we went for a safe bet of fudge cake, even this was shop-bought, dry and crusty. The best bit was the cream squirted from a can. And how a restaurant could even get coffee so wrong is completely beyond me.
Can I please state that we are not fussy eaters- We consider kebabs to be a take-away dream! I have purchased many pre-pay deals like this, plenty from Groupon but I was just so disappointed and disgusted by this restauarant I had to write and tell you.
The suggestion that this deal was worth £19 is laughable, never mind that they had informed you that sort of meal was worth the full £45.90! "
You honestly could not pay me enough to return here. If Groupon give me my money back it will be no victory- the dodgy tummy afterwards means that even a free meal here was not worth it. The idea that stags and hens pay the overinflated pricesto bring people here for celebration is ridiculous-they must really dislike their friends!
Having lived in Nottingham in my uni days I can strongly recommend the Soulville Steakhouse close by or ASK restaurant and Pizza Hut have always been exceptional food & service and menu prices are much cheaper than here!
I don't expect that this restaurant will be here much longer. They certainly don't deserve to be- I would feel sorry for them if I weren't so convinced that they don't even give two hoots- nothing about my visit showed that they were trying to be anything other than terrible in every way

Perhaps the worst meal I’ve had in Nottingham. There is nothing authentic about the menu, many of the dishes are simply a variant of the same bought in budget sauce presented differently. There was a ring of dried rice left around the edge of my wife’s plate from something that was alleged to be Mexican indicating it was pre prepared and microwaved on order. These are restaurant prices for food I wouldn’t even expect from a supermarket cafe. I have to agree with a previous reviewer about slow service in what is little more than a cafe environment and to see restaurant staff smoking directly outside the door is disgraceful.

I hate to say it but really, just bad. The hostess was very nice and attentive but really that isn't enough. To start with, the decor is awful, really outdated. There were fake flowers on the table that were covered in dust. The light in the toilet didn't work and the carpets leading upstairs are really dirty and threadbare. The music reminded me of that embarassing bit in Abigails Party. We only went here because we had a groupon voucher and thought it seemed like a good deal but we spent the whole meal just giggling uncontrolably at how naff it all was. Despite all these bad first impressions we were open to giving the food a chance. We were naive. I had calamari to start, which was ok but did put me in mind of a kids party. Very frozen tasting. My boyfriend had the italian mixed seafood. Horrid. Also which was very weird was that there was big chunks of lemon all over it, skin on. Just inedible. He put them right on the side of his plate in the hope that they would notice, but to no avail. Then I had mushroom stroganoff which was tasteless and gloopy. It all gelatinised on the plate asthough it had too much cornflour in it (an ingredient that should have died with the 80's in my mind). My boyfriend had a poor imitation of what was supposed to be Paella but left most of it. This was also dotted with little chunks of unpeeled lemon. Our voucher included a dessert but we just didn't want to stay any more so we opted to take our wine with us and just go(which was very expensive aswell for a terrible bottle of wine) This place is really going to have to up it's game if it wants to stay in business. I can see how this would have been an OK place to go in the 70's but it was all a bit time warpy and not in a vintage way. Bad food, very uncomfortable, crap drinks. Just not even worth the cheap deal. Honestly, we couldn't stop laughing at what we had walked into. There are alot of fantastic places to eat in the surrounding area. This just shouldn't be there anymore. BAD!

Nice little place right in the heart of Nottingham - the food was excellent and the service has second to non - the place was relatively busy as there was at least one hen night on when we were there but we were not kept waiting. The food was good quaity and the was a fair amount of it. We did not go for the special offer of selected starter and main plus a bottle of wine or 3 beers for £ 18.95, we had 2 starter, 2 mains, 2 pudding and 6 beers and it came to around £45.00. It was a really good evening and we were not felt rushed at all. I would happily go back as a couple or with a group of friends and would recommend to anyone.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced place to eat with friends, look no further. The exterior may look abit grotty, however on the inside you will get a warm welcome from the staff. The set meal offer is the best value. You get to pick any starter and main course with a bottle of wine for £16.95. If you don't like wine there is always the choice of 3 beers or 3 soft drinks.
On the menu you get to choose from Mexican, Italian or Spanish so there is always something to suit everyone. Some of the mexican starters are bulked out abit with peppers and onions. However the portions are on the generous side. I had a chicken main course and the piece of chicken I had was huge.
The only down side is the desserts. They are all of the frozen variety that restaurants buy in. So don't expect any homemade delights. Having said that you may be hard pushed to manage a dessert after all the other food.
