What we say

Hold your horses, hombre, this is beef country, and what's that staring down at us from the walls? Why, dinner, of course. The good old steakhouse of cherished memory is still alive and kicking although the same cannot be said of the four-legged participants in this uncompromising celebration of home on the kitchen range cooking: meating is such sweet sorrow as Macbeth might have said in the balcony scene from Hamlet. Yes, there's fish and chicken on the menu too (even vegetarian options for those who sympathise with the herbivore inside us all, well inside most Cattlemans regulars anyway), but we needn't concern ourselves too much with them. The question is, does size matter on your platter? 8oz, 12oz, 32oz; try the belly-busting 72oz, ambulance not included. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, sixties to eighties classic soundtrack and moderate prices, what more do you want? Join the rest of the herd at this rare but well-done UK corral

I thought this place was great!! It had great food, fantastic service and was nice and cozy inside. I was shown straight to my table, they didn't rush us and we are going back on 28th November 2009 for our anniversary. Dont know what everyone else is talking about, just because they had to wait a bit, there's no pleasing some people!

firstly I have one small bit of praise for this place, the meat is great, and you get alot of it. now for the rest......

we walked in and were left waiting for about 20 mins from when we booked, great start. I wouldn't of minded, but its the tiniest place you've ever seen so for those awfully long 20 mins, we were squeezed in the corner STANDING!!!! They are so small my tv is bigger than the bar and only tables for eating so no where to wait!! after that, the people seemed friendly enough, and we ordered. we weren't waiting too long, but the decor is creepy. paper table covers and alot of stuffed animals packed on the walls, yuck, and i'm not even an animal lover. like i said, the meat was good, but the chips were bog standard fried stuff, and the salad, well they must share the same suplier as the kebab shop down the road.

What a complete waste of money, time, and what was supposed to be my birthday dinner. DON'T GO!!!!!!!

Myself and a few of the girls came for a lively mid-week night out here. Although a little old fashioned in the decor, Cattlemans, without doubt, serves the best steaks I've ever had. They're not cheap but you sure get what you pay for. The girls had a mix of rump and sirloin but I opted for the fillet - if you're going to try a steakhouse, you may as well try their premium offering - and I wasn't disapointed. The servings are huge so you won't go hungry but I wish I hadn't had such a large starter - next time I'd probably share. Definately will return again, the atmosphere is lively, you can have a laugh with the staff and like I said the steaks are main attraction!!

I love a good steak and thought this was the place for me. I couldn't have been more wrong. I ordered my steak medium rare. It was cooked all the way through without a trace of pink - it was well done. As the meal wasn't cheap, I sent it back asking for a medium-rare steak. This time it was basically raw, being quickly seared on both sides so that the upper millimetre was cooked, but nothing else. I couldn't believe it. The waiter obviously wasn't pleased with me, so I didn't bother to send the second steak back. I just decided to never go back myself. What a disappointment. All I can imagine was that the chef called in sick that day and one of the waiters or the host tried to cook a steak - just guessing.
