What we say

The award winning City CAFé overlooks Temple Gardens, a destination restaurant with alfresco terraces for enjoying summer days and nights. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, Bristol's City CAFé is the purveyor of fantastic food. Using the best-sourced ingredients from around the UK, the restaurant justifies its AA rosette, awarded now for four consecutive years (2003-2007).

City CAFé's dishes have a modern European style, and the three menus reflect seasonal changes and the availability of the freshest ingredients. The classic à la carte list includes signature mains such as blackened cod, pimento and red onion salsa, coriander and crème fraiche; or fillet of Welsh beef poached in a tomato jus with artichokes and mushrooms; and to finish try the City CAFé sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream or warm dark chocolate fondant with spearmint ice cream.

Equally popular is the "Kitchen Menu" - a twice weekly changing offering that allows the Chef to showcase creative new dishes, fantastic value at £9.95 for two courses. Meet friends and family for a lazy Sunday lunch and munch your way through classic and contemporary dishes, continental charcuterie and cheeses, succulent roasts, vegetarian dishes and tempting desserts.

During warmer months diners spill out onto the stunning terrace (where both the bar and restaurant menus are available) overlooking Temple Gardens. Here you can enjoy fabulous alfresco dining accompanied by a glass of chilled wine, a morning coffee, or an afternoon tea whilst soaking up tranquillity and sunshine.

If you want to celebrate away from the crowd, private dining rooms are available where City CAFé's Head Chef Peter Quinion, serves specially-created menus.

My partner and i decided to go to City cafe inn last minute, and at first we thought we had made a poor choice. The surroundings were so sterile and clinical, but not in a stylish, modern way! I appreciate it was a quite week night, but there was absolutley no atmosphere! Having said that it was obvious that it was a classy restauarant, pristine cotton tablecloths, comfortable chairs, heavy cutlery, it oozed quality.

The service that we recieved throughout the evening was exceptional, we were treated like royalty, the waiter was also extremey knowledgeable about the food and the wine!

All of the food was beautifully cooked and stunningly presented, there was also a great choice of starters mains desserts, and wine. The souffle in particular was incredible! The most amazing part of the evening tho was the price, which was amazingly good value! The quality of the food is easily as good as goldbrick house, or juniper, but at least £5 cheaper...amazing!!

Although the start was shaky the food and service easily made up for it!

Outstandingly good food at an oustandingly good price!!

An absolute must for lovers of food.

Pleasant contemporary surroundings, good wine list and interesting menu. The staff were attentive although the service was a little slow considering that the restaurant was relatively empty for this time of year compared to many others.

Food was superbly prepared and presented and tasted very good also. We had three course and coffee and all was equally good. Several good vegetarian options with regualry changing Market Menu make this a foodies delight in terms of options for dishes.

Only real critisism was that the room was rather cold - although we were experiencing a particularly cold snap.
