If you’re one of the many people for whom going out to dine is as much about temporary escape as it is the food, then Dynasty is the place for you: with its sensational surroundings and atmosphere, you could be forgiven for thinking that you are actually dining out on the other side of the world.
Recently voted as one of the top five Chinese restaurants in the UK in the Observer and Guardian, Dynasty is firmly established on the Bristol food scene as a top-class Chinese restaurant priding itself on attention to detail and quality and authenticity in its dishes. The Head Chef, for example, was individually selected and flown over from Hong Kong.
A spacious affair seating up to 250 people, Dynasty is owned by Suzanna Ho, a well-known and respected figure within the Chinese community who has assembled a team of friendly and experienced waiting staff more than happy to guide you through the menu with the help of their expert knowledge. The extensive menu offers a wide array of à la carte dishes, with specialities such as fresh seafood available daily. For those who can't or don't want to choose, there's a good selecton of set menus on offer as well.
Hardly surprising, then, that Dynasty looks set to reign over cultured tastebuds for a long time to come.

Not all that!!

I am very surprised by a lot of the other reviews that have been written about Dynasty, i think that it has been severly overated! Perhaps this because of the lack of really good Chinese restaurants! Dont get me wrong its quite good but it really isnt amazing!
The ambience and surroundings verge on being cheap and tacky, rather than sophisticated and expensive! The room and the tables are so large, that it feels very impersonal and not special!
The starter of mixed hors D'oeuvres was far and away the best part of the meal, beautifully cooked and plenty in size, however it was still not nearly as good as Fushia (now called Shanghi Nights), which i consider the finest Chinese restaurant in Bristol!
The main courses were very ordinary and way over priced!! They were fairly bland and not interesting to the eye or to the palate!
The desserts were probably the most dissapointing bit, they had obviously been taken straight out of a freezer, and the flavour reflected that! The service was also a bit hit and miss, some of the staff were friendly and some came across quite rude!
The worst part of the night tho was the bill, i eat in a lot of expensive restaurants and have no problem paying for it however the food came to £95+ between 3 of us even though we had the invitation card.
This restaurant is extremly over priced, it really isnt worth what they charge. Shanghi Nights really is the superior restaurant!!
It really aint all that!!!

A good choice

As a stranger to Bristol and just here for the weekend with my wife visiting a conference, I searched the web for restaurant recomendations. Dynasty rated pretty highly so I booked a table. Our car navigator took us there with no problems and we easily found nearby free street parking.
We ordered the set menu for two and both enjoyed the meal very much, the food was excellent, service friendly and efficient and there was a nice atmosphere with people of all ages from young children to elderly people enjoying their evening. I though the wine list was expensive so we stuck to beer.
We didnt know but it was the start of the Chinese New Year celebrations and there was a dragon dance performed by local students. It was fun but went on a bit too long!
So in conclusion, not the best Chinese I have been too but well up in the top 10.
A good night out and excellent value for money. Recomended.

A very filling lunch!

Dynasty offers a special lunch offer that is so filling you might not be able to get up from the table afterwards!! For around £8 you get a starter and main course from a set menu: starters include spring rolls and steamed dumplings, mains include crispy shredded beef and chicken in black bean sauce and come with your choice of fried rice or noodles. Food is served very quickly - although you might struggle in an hour's lunch break - and is so good you will want to come again, and at that price a right bargain! The only downside for me was the service - with your bowl whisked away whilst still on your last mouthful it didn't feel like a place to have a long, leisurely lunch!

We had my Mum's Hen Party there 11 of us went we all had the set menu which totalled £20.00 each which I have to say was a bargin. The food was just stunning and lots of it. Among us was a Vegetarian which we did not have to order separate for as there was just such a wide choice.
Highly recommed

This restaurant is the best Chinese in Bristol. The Dim Sum menu is to die for and I have never had a bad meal here ever (I've been going for years now!). I recommend Dynasty to everyone that likes Chinese.
