What we say

This is an unpretentious and unassuming Italian café/restaurant in the city centre with basic pine wooden tables, exposed brickwork and white walls plus huge glass frontage where cheerful staff produce an array of pastas and pizzas. Try the tagliatella Gabriella, a chicken, avocado mix in creamy Rosemary sauce.

We visited here as a group of four on a saturday night and we were pleasantly surprised. Never having been here before, we were wary of what the place was going to be like.

For starters we ordered the mozzarella in corrozza and it was utterly delicious. My partner raved about it for the rest of the weekend! We then ordered the parma ham pizza and this too was very tasty, it looked so home made and was a generous size. The service throughout the evening was excellent, we had a very friendly waiter who made a few funny jokes to make us laugh but did not bother us too much so it was nice. The place was not too noisy, was well lit and felt very cosy. The prices too were very reasonable, will definitely be going back here. Thankyou Europa for a lovely meal.

I know that the previous reviews were older but I decided to try this restaurant with a colleague based on those reports.

What an utter disappointment. The recommended Mozzarella in Carrozza was something you can buy at Ldli for 1.99 for 4. I had the Sorrentina which was tasteless. too much olive oil and not enough garlic to add any flavour to the dish and the aspargus was a mixture of the hard tail end (which should never be served) and the tops which were over cooked and I suspect added later. The prawns were hard and I assume mircowaved from forzen rather than fresh.

My colleague had the chicken kiev which came with chips and salad. The chips tasted like those you would get from a "chinese" fish and chip shop, the kiev was overcooked, the chicken was of poor quality and "stringy" and was completely devoid of any garlic whatsoever. Only the salad saved the day but then they didnt eat all of that either.

I have spent some considerable time in Italy and would have expected a far better cooked meal. I think they could learn a lot from other local italian restaurants around town such as Piccolino and Sergio's. Doubt if I will be rushing back there anytime soon

I have both had take-aways and dined at Europa for many years. I have never had a disappointing meal, pizzas are superb and as already noted the ‘Mozzarella in Carrozza’ cannot be beaten!

On this occasion there were 7 who hadn’t dined there before - all were delighted with the food and service. They were pleasantly surprised by the personal service not seen in other local Italian restaurants; even down to the surprise (to the organiser as well) birthday drink and song!

Just off of the city centre lies a really superb Italian Restaurant great pizzas and the best mozzarella in carrozza that I have ever tasted! (I recommend you to try the mozzarella en carozza starter; lovely)

As well as serving good food the prices are very reasonable as well. If you have a date and are thinking “were should I take them?” Take them here; relaxed and romantic ideal for a first date.

P.s If you like you food hot... Try their hot chilli oil ~ I dare you ;-)
