Fat Fowl's light, bright conservatory, Bath stone walls hung with contemporary art, well-spaced tables, fresh flowers, muted colours and natural woods are an elegant setting for good food. The Parisian-style outside terrace is perfect for alfresco summer dining.
Chef Gary Say's monthly changing menus make confident use of prime regional produce, in season and sourced locally if possible. Seared scallops, Andalucian rice, pork belly and chorizo with aioli is one finely-judged starter; flavour-packed main dishes include pan-fried hake with colcannon potatoes, oxtail dumplings and thyme sauce. Non meat-eaters are imaginatively catered for too by the likes of vegetable tagine or wild mushroom risotto.
Fat Fowl is a delightful place to dine out with friends, serving excellent food in stylish and relaxed surroundings. The lunchtime tapas menu or live jazz in the upstairs dining rooms might also tempt you to visit Bradford on Avon soon.

Attended a aniversary dinner at fat fowl - upstairs in the Roost - had heard good things about this place and it lived up to eveything we had heard. A really lovely room with a brilliant atmospher overlooking the conservatory.....Staff were charming and very helpful, food was excellent - Ruby Murry was the theme. On offer was Thai, Indian and Japanese Katsu ! with all the necessary. All in all a brilliant eveing that will be long remembered.....thank you fat fowl.

We had the good fortune to attended a wedding party in Fat Fowl . Had heard good things about this place and noticed they were in The Good Food Guide - so expectations were high. We were not disappointed - starters of home smoked salmon followed by a main course of roasted duck and finally a dessert tmade up of three gorgeous little puds. Staff were lovley and attentive even at 2am when one of party need a pair flat shoes to walk home in!!! An absolutely lovely experience . Well done Fat Fowl.

It is fair to say that this place certainly puts effort and thought into it's food. The quality of the ingredients is far better than most places. The service was fine when we went and the menu choice is good and varied. However there were a few minor inperfections, first i had the burger, which was homemade (or at least it seemed it) delicious and perfectly cooked, however a little bit on the small side. Also call me a traditionalist but when I order a buger I expect it come in some sort of bun, not two bit of toast as was the case, whether this was because they had run out or becuase this is how the dish is designed was not clear. The garlic mayo accompanyment was also devine, however not nearly enough of it. The chunky chips were also very well prepared, however there was literally about 10 - 12 of them. All very tastey, even with the sliightly odd toast burger, but I left feeling hungry. I would have happilly paid an extra £ or so to have the same quality and slightly bigger portions. Would go back for second try.

The one thing preventing the Fat Fowl from being an outstanding local restaurant rather than just a very decent one is the service. Visiting there on New Year's Eve when it was full, but not busy enough to be over-stretched, we couldn't fault the four courses of carefully put together, delicious tapas dishes. The owner talked knowledgeably and enthusiastically about the food, but the waiting members of staff were under-prepared and inattentive.
We had to hang our own coats up, request the wine menu, ask again for water, and stop someone to ask for coffee. Another table got so tired of waiting that they went behind the bar themselves to find sugar for their coffee. It was not bad enough to spoil the experience totally, but a real shame as this should be so easy to get right with just a little bit of briefing and direction.

Four of us went here for dinner on Christmas eve.The welcome was warm and very polite. The service is prompt and courteous, but not too attentive. I had a starter of chicken liver pate which was very smooth and well seasoned, the only downside was that the advertised apple marmalade was a rather sweet apple puree! However the mains of Skate, Mallard, Pot roasted chicken and Pollock were exceptional. The skate wing in particular was meaty and perfectly cooked. We had a very nice bottle of Pinotage and overall can highly recommend the venue.

100% perfect. Their reputation is well deserved. everything was exquisite. Pre dinner drinks on the hugh red sofas then pan fried scallops with a lemon risotto for my partner - superb, - mallard duck, parsnip puree and spiced plums - fantastic. But for me it was the birthday cake that arrived for my partner (I hadn't ordered it - really nice touch). The clean plates said everything. So so good.

A small restaurant with a short well chosen menu, this place never fails to please. The atmosphere is lovely and informal. You will feel special and will be well fed.
