What we say

Set in the heart of the redeveloped Harbourside area, Firehouse Rotisserie occupies an old leadworks, refurbished in hacienda style. Huge curved windows overlook Anchor Square (where there is room for 80 al fresco diners) while inside the ranch style layout, open plan with high ceilings, provides a wonderful view of the chefs hard at work at their creative best on the rotisserie grills and the brick fired ovens: the cuisine is Californian, laced with Mexican, Creole and Pacific Rim touches. Try the Texas Spice-Rubbed Rotisserie Chicken with Jalapeno Coleslaw or the Pacific Crab Cakes with Avocado Salsa and wash them down with a choice from the range of New World wines. Service is American-style too, efficient but relaxed and children are especially welcome: if a man's gotta eat what a man's gotta eat, then he's gotta eat it at the Firehouse.

Went there on a Tuesday Evening for dinner with my BF and His mum.

I had Pork Loin with Sweet Potato Cakes.

    He had Texan Spiced chicken.

    She had Salmon.

And one bowl of fries to share (plenty).

All 3 of us cleaned our plates.

    Food cooked beautifully.

Portion sizes were HUGE and filling.

And I have to say the Sweet potato cakes alone were to die for!

    Seriously good.

We skipped starters as we saw the desert menu and that looked scrummy too.

    Deserts:

Bread and butter pudding - mine, light, fresh with yummy custard.

Tiramisu (with vodka) - seriously, to die for.

Cheesecake - His mum was rendered speechless.

Roughly, £25per head including drinks (we dont drink alcohol)

For a filling, tasty, satisfying meal with friendly staff and a beautiful setting.

    Good food, cooked honestly.

Will eat there again and recommend.

I don't very often eat out in Bristol - too lazy to drive that far as I live and work in Axbridge - but there was an event on that I wanted to attend. I decided, on the spur on the moment, to have Sunday lunch at the Harbourside. Having trekked around a couple of the other restaurants along the strip, I found myself outside the Firehouse Rotisserie perusing the menu. It looked good, so I sat down and was duly served with my glass of red wine whilst I read the menu. Not being able to eat starter, main and dessert, I opted for just a main course. And what a main course! It was absolutely fabulous. It was on the menu as Pork Sui (something) - slow roasted with a chinese style sauce with vegetable selection. The meat was so tender it was unbelievable, the vegetables were cooked al dente and the sauce was great! I've just looked at their menu and it would appear to be no longer on but when it is - you just gotta try the pork!
