Fishworks is built on a passion for seafood. Originating in Bath, the chain now has restaurants across the south-east, each offering simple, stylish and relaxing dining on a wonderful variety of frightenly fresh, seasonally adjusted denizens of the deep. Each restaurant has a fishmonger's attached where you can pick out someone whom you'd like to meet on your plate later and you don't have to be satisfied with portions: you can choose a whole fish and share it amongst your table.
This Bristol outlet is more café-style than restaurant and, with limited table space, can get very busy. An extensive list of white (and red) wines is on offer as well as consummate advice as to what to choose to complement your meal. And if you want to try all this at home, why not attend a day-long cookery School. If you want a fusion of fish on your palate, it's got to be Fishworks.

The staff are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. The fish is cooked to perfection in an area that can be seen from the tables. The wet fish is brought to your table to choose. Advice is given where requested and they will cook the dish in any way you wish. The flavours and textures are incredible and the ingredients are fabulous.
The wines are fab and varied.
It was a real experience - one of the best meals I have ever had - and we eat out a lot!. I had the seafood in cooking pot which was amazing [and huge] with such fabulous fresh ingredients and flavours.
This is an expensive restaurant but that is because the ingredients are first class

If you want a good choice of super-fresh seafood then this is the place to come. Yes it is expensive, but I think you have to expect to pay a bit more for fish of this quality.
It is a pretty restaurant and although it is quite brightly lit it has a pleasant atmosphere. Service when I went was friendly but perhaps a little slow. The food was worth waiting for though.
I started with the 'Fishworks cocktail', which is a twist on the old prawn cocktail, containing succulent crevettes, brown shrimps and prawns. Following that, the swordfish Milanese with fennel was meaty and delicious. My friend's seabass with rosemary and lemon was sweet and delicate and cooked simply enough for the flavour of the fish to stand out. Finally, the chocolate pudding was well-enough executed but not exceptional.
All in all a very enjoyable evening out and Fishworks is definitely a place I would go back to, although perhaps only infrequently.

We had lunch here- a delicious platter of assorted fish and seafood accompanied by a well recommended white wine. The experience was fun, and certainly satisfying on the stomach however, I would give a word of warning, it's a little pricey for a lunch and perhaps best reserved for the more special occassions
