At the end of a narrow alleyway, off busy Park Street, sits The Folk House, a co-operatively run centre for social and educational activities for the people of Bristol. The café bar offers casual dining in a family kitchen setting, using local produce ethically sourced from sustainable farming practices. Home made burgers, pizzas with fantastic toppings and individual tapas are all signature dishes and there is an imaginative range of vegetarian options.
There is also a delightful courtyard garden for summer dining. There's always something happening at the centre, workshops, courses, live music, so it's an interesting place to visit as well as to eat at, somewhere to stimulate your mind as well as your tastebuds.

After a recent upgrading of the Folk House, the Cafe has really kicked into gear. All the food is organic, which may sounds irrelevant, but the taste really comes through. Though often the salads can be plain, and the price of some dishes remind one that the indregiants must of been expensive, the polite staff and overall high quaity of the food more than recover other fumbles. There is always a delicious daily special, as well as a host of scrummy home made cakes, and good coffee (a must for this critic).
The ambiance stutters as 'anyone' can display their art, leading to some questionable displays. But the turnover is rapid, and often one wont see the same displays twice Considering though, the cafe is just off Park Street, there is little noise of traffic, even outside in the garden, which helps mellow out the atmosphere. * * * * *
