We never got to eat there, so I have no comment about the food.
We arrived there about 7:30 on a Friday night. The place was busy, but not packed. We were told that there would be a wait for a table, about 40 minutes. We (my daughter and I) went for a beer in a local pub, and returned at the appointed time.
We were seated immediately, and an attentive waitperson shortly took our orders. She mentioned that the restaurant had just relocated here, and that 'things needed to be worked out, that there would be a delay'. So, allowing her to set our expectations, I asked how long she would think we would have to wait to be fed. '45 minutes to an hour', she said.
We waited an hour, and I approached the waitperson, who was now staffing the bar. I asked her how much longer she thought we would have to wait, and she went off into (I presume) the kitchen to find out.. When she returned, she said '5 minutes maximum, your food is now being cooked. There will be no charge for your drinks.' I said, 'If we are not served with our food in your time limit - 5 minutes - we shall simply leave money for what we have had (a couple of beers, poppadoms and chutney), and forgo the pleasure of the meal.
My daughter (reluctantly) started the timer on her iPhone, and at 4 minutes and 30 seconds, a waiter rushed over and put two empty plates on our table. When the 5 minutes expired, there was no food, and we paid our estimate of what we owed and left.
Remember, we asked the restaurant what we should expect, and we let them set our expectations.
It's difficult to be objective, but on that evening, Friday, 5th March 2010, it seemed that no one else was being served any food, either.
Unless, you have several hours to spare, the rating is 'Eek! methinks not.'

Great expectations - good recommendations, sadly it was a total disappointment - my old school curries had more flavour - avoid if you like a full rounded flavour and not the average equivalent from a jar.

Friends had been recommending this restaurant to us for months as the best Indian restaurant they'd ever been to and they weren't wrong. We went on a quiet night and so had a chance to chat to the owner about the food and it was great to speak to someone so passionate about their menu and food generally. We each had a dosa after his recommendation to start with and they were lush- really light and subtle. We then had 4 side dishes (an aubergine dish with peanut, a daal with spinach, a chickpea dish and okra), the saffron rice and a nan bread and everything was delicious- really subtle and obviously cooked with great pride. We can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu. A real gem- hope he does well as he deserves to.

This little bistro style indian resturant is fantastic. I can honestly say that I had the best indian food I've ever had here. The menu is characterised by what is NOT on it and the staff take time to explain the dishes and give a real feelling that they care about the food.
The food is subtly spiced and is completely different from the normal "curry house" type.
I am lucky enough to be within walking distance of this little gem but I would happily travel to eat food this good.

Visited there with a group of friends and then went back a week later with my girlfriend. Great menu everything you will not find on a normal Indian menu and nothing you expect. Try the Tiffin!

I went here with a group of friends- we go out for curries every couple of months and we were not disappointed. Service was excellent and very friendly. Food was gorgeous. I've not been back yet but definitely will do so soon.

I've never actually visited the restaurant although it's not far from my home, but I have enjoyed their takeaway service more than once. It's free for orders over £15, so make sure you have some friends! I really enjoyed the traditional methods which are evident in the food and the flavours. The menu is great as well. Unless you are an Indian cuisine expert you will probably be choosing something you've never had before.
It's great cold for breakfast too.

A good addition to Bemie Parade - clean fresh flavours and reasonably priced. My only moan would be that one of our dishes had burnt slightly on the bottom, implying that it had been sat on the hot plate in its serving dish for ages. Icky. But that was the only dud note. Good stuff.

This was our second visit to Ganesha and it definitely won't be our last. It's a family-run business with a great atmosphere. The owners fall over themselves to educate you on the best dishes and the best ways to eat them. The food itself is outstanding. I'm lucky enough to have Ganesha as a local restaurant, but I would not hesitate to travel there if I had to - it's by far and away the best curry house in Bristol.

After reading all the reviews on eatout and hearing from friends, I thought we better try out Ganesha. For a tuesday it was very busy and by about 8pm there were no tables left so the atmosphere was nicely buzzing. Service is very quick and friendly. The food was, of course, the main affair and we found it to be really fresh and flavoursome. The nan bread was lovely the sauces in our curries delicious.
The bill was very reasonable too. We'll be back for sure.

3 of us went to Ganesha as one of my collegues recommended. We were given guidelines about the food and the menu by one of the staff members. Had an Indian pan cake (never saw this before !) to start with followed by chicken with butter, palak paneer, palak daal, garlic naan, jeera rice and a chicken biriyani. Each dish was delecious. Finest curry, I ever had. It's a cosy resturant with oustanding food and good service . The rates were reasonable too. I would recommend you to try this out.

Pure delcious Indian cuisine. This restaurant is a gift to the Bedminster area. Infact I would say it is the best curry house in Bristol although some may find it too small but very friendly. So much so, that you hardly feel like you have gone to eat in restaurant. The restaurant is a family run business and all the staff are friendly and explain everything about menu. The prices are resonable and the variety of food is amazing. Highly recommended................

Ganesha is a nice cosy restaurant with excellent customer service, a friendly atmosphere & is located in a good central location. Their chilli paneer curry is delicious, although they could do with a few more dishes on the menu to add to their variety!..

A group of six of us went to Ganesha the other day for a curry and we were very pleasantly surprised. The prices were very reasonable, the waiters were exceedingly helpful and there wasnt a Korma or Vindaloo to be seen on the menu, in fact apart from popadoms and onion bhajis (both which were terrific) I did not recognise anything on the menu. This truly is a great Indian and probably one of the best I have had in Bristol. Highly recommmended !
