A bit disappointed

We had a mixed experience here. We had to send back onion rings as they were greasy and limp - obviously cooked in below temperature oli. The chips wdere also underdone and poor quality. That said, the burger and chicken kiev ordered were great.
The service was slow but freindly.
We were appalled to discover on asking that the waiting staff do not keep the majority of the service charge as it is used to top up kitchen staff wages to meet national minimum wage - we would not return here for that reason.

The Best Ribs EVER - But....

If you want the best ribs in Bristol. I recommend here. I'd love to try better if you know of any, please comment.
We love going just for the edamame. The sauce on them is amazing.
However, we did have a bad experience with burgers, Our order seem to have been forgotten then the rushed it all and it was disgusting. The manager however is a great guy and didn't want us to go away feeling bad and wanted us to come back. (I know that's his job - but he did it well)
Both mains where removed from our order as well as drinks. For that, I was pleased.

Not Nice

Nice lively venue. Dire Food.
Myself and a group of mates went for pre bar crawl grub. The food was awful, the Duck Noodles tasted like they had been made the day before in a huge batch - the vegetables were soggy, the duck although plentiful was nasty.
The best bit was when I witnessed the chef burning our crumble under the grill, taking a look and then trying to hide it by adding some more crumble to the top! he should know you just cant escape a burnt taste!
Needless to say it went back to the kitchen - The manager recovered the situation with a free round of drinks but I must say whilst lively there are far better places to go for the money both in Cabot Circus and within a short walk.

Had better, not much worse

This type of 'restaurant' is becoming increasingly popular, but I just can't see why. It does have a big menu consisting of grills, salads and staples like lasagne. But nothing that really grabs your attention.
I really don't understand why people queue up to eat here. It is well situated, but that's about all that there is in its favour, apart from the staff maybe. The place itself isn't that comfortable to eat in, as you sit there in an orange glow its like sitting in a traffic light!
What did I eat? Nothing particularly memorable. Some kind of lasagne with a twist. I wouldn't have it again. My partner faired much worse, having the turkey enchilada. 10 quid for some turkey mince in a tortilla. Turkey Mince! Not even proper bits of meat. It felt like being robbed. If you're eating at Cabot Circus you'd do better at Tampopo, or GBK. And to be honest, Brasserie Blanc really isn't a lot more expensive but is in a completely different league altogether.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon - pre-Christmas!! We were asked to wait outside as there was a queue, and the system was a little disorganised. However once we were seated we were served very quickly and the food was very good. Large choice on the menu and staff were very friendly.

Christmas Meal
Rating - Overall: 3 Food: 3 Service: 4 Ambience: 3

Attended for obligatory work christmas meal with a very large group, staff initially struggled to deal with drink orders whilst awaiting outside for table. Once seated staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. All orders arrived with staff calling out individual names and service good and timely. Whilst ordering drinks staff again very friendly and evn offered to split the bill between individuals. Food quality was good and as expected, overall a good experience whilst staff coped well with such a large group. Did exactly what it said on the tin!

Busy but competitive

We visited on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed. We were seated quickly but there was very little space leaving us elbow to elbow with the diners at the next table. There had obviously been some thought put into the menu to make it a bit more than the usual steak/burger/pasta fayre. The garlic bread had a little twist and there were several interesting vegetarian alternatives. We played safe and went for the burgers which were good, with enough meat to go with the variety of toppings on offer. Would definitely eat there again before going to the cinema or after shopping but to its too cramped and similar to other restaurants such as TGI Fridays to make it worth a special trip.
