What we say

Don't worry, it's not all glass! It's still a barge, although, after over twenty years of satisfying the local cognoscenti, refurbishment is the order of the day. You approach through something of a forest but, once inside, the décor is warm and satisfying and the views all round are spectacular (obviously a window seat is best). Reassuringly as well, it doesn't move, except if the herds of wildfowl get too close, when it reverts to a slow motion bob or two. The international cuisine and wine list have a justifiably renowned reputation. All in all, one of the most pleasing dining experiences in the city, although it's not the first choice for the faint of pocket.

Have been to the glassboat on a few occassions now as they have been in the invitation book for a few years now, and it has always been consistently very good!!

Has been revamped in the last few years, and now feels a lot more open and the ambience has improved.

In all honesty with a candlelit table by one of the huge windows looking out over the river there are very few better seats in Bristol. The menu has excellent choice which often changes, the food is always very well cooked and tasty! Probably lacks a bit of flair, but this is good solid well cooked food! At the prices aswel is offers incredible value!

The service has been a bit mixed, one of the waiters is very friendly and will chat to you and makes you feel very relaxed, as does the staff in the bar. However one of the waiters we have had is very rude and impatient, was annoyed when we said can we have another minute to decide what we wanted, just seemed like he didnt want to be there!

Overall though the glassboat is very a good restaurant, being there is to be at the heart of bristol dining!!!

We ate here for Valentines day 2010. It wasn't cheep. But hey you pay for what you get.

The food was excellent. The staff and service however was SHOCKING. We got given our free drink of fizzy. 40 mins later I had to ask if someone was going to take our order and could we get a drink.

I rarely leave a restaurant and never tip. For £85 a head. this was a joke.

On saying that though, I would go back just for the food... however Glassboat if you do read this. Get your heads away from the till and totals. and serve your bloody customers.

I visited on a lunchtime with 5 colleagues. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent. The lunchtime menu is good value, with two courses for £10. I would recommend this restaurant as a great venue for a leisurely business lunches.
