What was a repro antique furniture store on Park Street is now one of Bristol's most fashionable dining destinations, an all-purpose eating and drinking den spread over three floors of two beautiful Georgian buildings.
Having opened in the summer of 2006, Goldbrick House has received five star rave reviews from the press for its food and strikingly stylish look which has been described as having "real chutzpah" and "oozing effortless class".
The fun begins with a refreshingly different café/bar on the ground floor overlooking Park Street which has the feel of a Parisian boho bar and serves a good menu ranging from safe favourites like the homemade burgers or steak and chips to inventive Mediterranean snacks. Up the discreet staircase, on the first floor, is a split level elegant cocktail and Champagne bar which is both classy but relaxing at the same time with its comfy leather sofas and chairs.
The cocktails are a must. Above the bar are two wonderful drawing rooms which are used for business meetings during the day and can be hired for decadent private parties or are simply a great place to lounge around watching old movies after your Sunday lunch.
Goldbrick's sense of intrigue continues with more stairs leading to an understated and elegant ground floor dining room at the back of the complex. And it doesn't stop there. Above the dining room is a loft-style dining room opening on to an open terrace offering great views across the city and a must for summer alfresco dining.
The food, like the vibe, is deceptively understated.
Anglo/Mediterranean in its approach, the dishes are simple but done extremely well using top local produce where possible. You can eat very well for under £25 a head. The wine list is very good too.
With so many good things available throughout the building, you could happily lose yourself in Goldbrick House for a week and still come back for more.

I cannot believe that I have not seen this place before!.. having lived in Bristol for god knows how many years, I always though that Goldbricks was a cafe, but a mate of mine told me to go upstairs. Usually, I don’t really listen to them but I tried it out and to my astonishment, this place unravelled into a maze of lavish wall paper and amazing foody smells. Me and the wife had 3 courses and I have to say that I couldn't fault any of it. the food, wine and service was all 5*, utter class act.
I shall be coming back to sample your cocktail menus!

My friend and I met in the Cafe for brunch (hangover rescue) and the hot chocolates hit the spot to start with. I eat anything I fancy at any time of the day and opted for the Tuna Nicoise, she had the bacon, sausage, egg & tomato buttie. The staff were totally uninterested and had no interest in us or how we found our food, fortunately when our food did arrive it was lovely!. my tune was tender and rare and sweet and delicious and was piled high on a huge salad bowl bed of sold boiled eggs, baby (skin on) potatoes, al dente beans and wot not. Another hot chocolate and chocolate cake later we were good to go. A so-so dining experience let down by the staff and the revolting toilets!

The girls and I happened upon this gem of a place last night. Scrummy cocktails in the upstairs bar and having too many we decided food was a sensible option. Managing to grab a table for six of us we had a lovely meal. The food was delicious, prompt I would recommend the duck hmmm.
We will be back soon!
We love you goldbrick!!!
Love Sophie

I organised a private dinner for my board directors here last night and this morning they are all full of praise for Goldbrick House and its staff. The staff were attentive but not OTT, the food was all very well presented and tasty and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I will definitely be looking to book future events at Goldbrick House.
My thanks to all the staff for looking after us so brilliantly.

Decor & ambience is great, love the Philly Soul type background music too :)
The food is good, nicely presented - I think they could definitely improve on their starters, though - my mash was leaning towards lukewarm but hey, it was all pretty tasty.
Service was the only real blot on the landscape; it wasn't especially busy when we went & the waiter was a sweet young lad but seemed completely in another world, I had to really fight to get eye contact and, unfortunately, did have to resort to waving my arms about at one stage.
Not the best Bristol has to offer in fine dining but I would definitely return, I love the dining room - and the music, little touches like that make all the difference :)

This place is fantastic!!
Me and a friend visited this place as i had won a free meal for 2 through a comp, due to this i thought that we might get a lesser standard of service as we weren't paying and a very restrictive menu..... oh no no no!
From the moment we walked in, the building and decor was lovely and the welcome was great. we were sat down and given the full menu, chose muscles, seared duck with broad bean salad and farmers wife potatoes with chocolate moose and orange segments. OMG, the food was really well presented and the flavours were really well planned and put together. mucho praise to the brilliant chef!! after the amazing food, and desert that was mind blowing, we were made to feel really relaxed by the friendly and attentive staff.
And even if were did have to pay, i have to say for the all round quality, the prices were very well suited.
I can't wait to find a reason to go again!

The oxtail ravioli starter consisted of a single piece of ravioli filled with a wonderfuly rich and salty oxtail served on wilted greens. The pasta was clearly freshly made that day although was undercooked which resulted in a slightly raw taste.
The Hake was beautifully cooked, very soft and nicely seasoned. perfectly accompanied by a cake of bubble and squeak and a rasher of smoked bacon. The hollandaise was one of the nicest i have tasted, creamy and not overly acidic. My small tatse of my partner's belly of pork confirmed her claim that it was the softest pork she had ever tatsed.
The desert of praline rice pudding with poached pear appealed to me most, it was warm and sticky but only served with a few small chunks of poached pear instead of a whole one as i expected.
Goldbrick has a huge wine list ranging from £15 to £50. The menu briefly describes the wine to help you match your food. We had a very nice bottle of viognier priced at £25.
The service was the only sllight let down of the evening. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good considering the £85 meal price tag. There was a thirty minute wait between finishing starters and receiving mains which in my opinon is just too long. Also, although i'm not one for intrusive service i am used to the server asking if everything is ok at least once when clearing plates if they don't want to interrupt, strangely at Goldbrick we were never asked. We were also left to recover our own coats from the wardrobe when we left which shouldn't happen.
The ambience is great, the place is beautifully decorated and is buzzing without being loud. The dining room is a genuinely pleasant place to eat although the tables for two are a little on the small side.
A final note on service is if you pay the service charge they add on to the bill, the staff receive it through "higher wages" - quite a poor practice in my opinion. If you want your server to recieve the tip, leave it in cash.

After hearing many great things about Goldbrick House, my partner and i had high expectations of this popular establishment and we werent dissapointed!
The atmosphere and ambience of the restauarant was perfect, beautifully contemporary yet classic surroundings, it felt very warm and welcoming!
The service throughout the evening was exellent, the waiters were very attentive and also knowledgeable about the menu and the wine.
All of the food was cooked to perfection, and was of a very high standard, it was obvious that the ingredients were seasonally fresh. The wine list is very extensive and very reasonable priced. Yes the food is quite expensive but you get what you pay for, and that is food of the very highest quality.
The only criticism i could make would be the choice, although the food was perfectly cooked the choices were very limited, my partner struggled to find something that really appealed. Apart from that Goldbrick House lived up to the high expectations that it had been set.
I would definately reccommend this restauarant, and i look forward to returning their myself!
Enjoy!!!

Absolutely brilliant hungover brunch venue. We went for 3 BLT Benedict - a BLT muffin with eggs Benedict on top. It was quick, inexpensive, and bang on for a Saturday hangover cure, and plenty on the menu to compete with their full Goldbrick breakfast.

Quite expensive (£20 for fish stew) but definately worth a visit especially if you've got your Invitation card. The food was tasty and there was a good selection of wine. The atmosphere was good although a little cold.
I'll definitely be back for more although I'll have to save up first.

I have eaten here twice. The first time the service was excellent. As it was not a Christmas celebration and there were just 2 of us, we were made to feel very special. The big Christmas parties were on a different floor, which was much appreciated. The service was faultless.
The 2nd time I ate here the service for a table of 4 was VERY slow, which unfortunately spoilt our lunch.
I have heard others comment the same, so not sure how the service will be on a 3rd visit?!?

This is one of the best places to eat in Bristol. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday (and a treat for me). The food was so nice- so much to chose from! The wine was fantastic and the service was top notch!
Definately would come back but is quite pricey so would have to be a special occasion but I would recommend it to anyone!

The food at Goldbrick is superb! My friends and I tried the Beef Wellington and it was fantastic!! Although a little pricey!! (Luckily we had our Invitation card and received 25% discount!!). Service started out very good but was almost non existent as the restaurant got busier - either they need more staff or the staff need to remember that their first customers still need serving!

The only thing stopping me giving a full house was the table of Christmas party goers who were quite close to us but I don't want to be the Christmas Grinch! Anyway, the beef wellington was cooked to perfection, not an easy task as you will know. Good selection of food, really knowledgable staff and friendly, offering advice about wine to accompany meals without being pompous. I love the style of the place, like a step back in time going up the wooden staircase to the upstairs restaurant. lovely.

We had a meal for 4, unfortunately our table was at the back of the room on the very top floor and subsiquently lost some of the ambience that is very apparent throughout the other rooms. The service was good, the waiter was very knowledgable about he menu and especially about the wine list. The food was very nice, the portions were perfect for the dishes we ate and the quality of the food was very high. All in all it was a lovely meal, not something we will be able to afford to do too often but never the less a lovely treat.

This was my first visit & I will definitely be visiting again. The food was fantastic, good selection on the menu and daily specials, with some unsual combinations that worked really well.
Good variety of wine at reasonable prices.
I thought the tables were a little close together and as we were a large group I did feel sorry for the couple on the table next to us as the eveneing went on!

I did like Goldbrick House, the food was cooked very well, it did taste nice, however I thought it was all a little pricey. The meals were pretty small, and because I have a partner who likes to eat, he did leave feeling a little hungry.
I can't complain really, I wasn't too keen on the ambiance there, I could hear the conversation of the people next to us as we were so close, but it is a lage place, and I've only been here once. I will go again to taste the cocktails, as I've heard it's great for that, so I will be going again, but perhaps not for food.

My friends tease me about raving about this place but, I've never had a bad time, either eating or drinking here. The food is lush, the cocktails are fab, there is real choice (the cafe, the terrace in summer or the restaurant). The staff are great and they have some fab events. I particularly love their champagne tasting dinners - all you can drink champagne (different ones with each course to match the food) and a 5 course dinner! I also love the opulent decor and ambience. Go and try it, you'll love it (or don't and leave it all for me!).
