What we say

The reason this restaurant is called "Greens'' is not because of the retro-style pale green frontage (with its awnings and couple of wooden tables), nor because it only serves vegetarian dishes (which it doesn't) but simply because it's run by a family of Greens, bringing to bear their long experience of working in some of the finest restaurants in the south of England to this, their first independent venture.

The split-level dining space is cosy but not cramped and the cuisine is reassuringly classic European, with perhaps the odd Asian twist here and there. The cooking is assured and unpretentious and the set menus are complemented by an unusual wine list, featuring such countries as India and Greece, all in all proof, if proof were needed, that Greens really are good for you.

Really can't fault this place in terms of quality price and service especially when it is a special occasion. They have coped with my daughters food allergies on every occasion and she gets even more choice if we book in advance especially with desserts. Nothing is too much trouble and they clearly take food allergies/intolerances seriously. If you do have any dietary requirements this is a good place for you

This is not a flash, showy or pretencious restaurant, this is just great food cooked brilliantly supported with friendly and charming service!

What else can you say, local ingredients, fresh produce used to make really great dishes of food, wine list is fairly limited but it covers all of the bases!

This is a great local eatery, the chefs have cooked in great establishments over bristol for years and they certainly know what the people want.

Has a lovely buzzing atmosphere really great for groups and romantic diners alike!

Great prices, Great Food and Great service!

    Very highly reccommended!

Had supper in Green's last night with my wife and parents.

It was recommended to us and we were not disappointed, the food is of the highest level, in fact, possibly the best I have had in Bristol!

I started with Butternut Squash and sweet chilli soup, it was extremely tasty, just the right amount too.

For main I had the beef and peppercorns, again, a quality cut of beef cooked correctly and unlike so many other restaurants, when I asked for it medium rare, that's how it arrived!

The menu was well proportioned and had something for everyone, fish lovers, meat lovers and vegetarians alike.

For pud I had an excellent Creme Brulee.

Portions were a healthy size but not overbearing.

The only negative, if you can call it that, is the acoustics, the table next to use were very loud and at times we could not hear our own conversation over their general noise.

That is hardly the restaurants fault though.

Prices were reasonable for the quality of food, averaging out at about £30 per head (though two of the four were not drinking).

    I will definitely revisit!

My husband and I love this place. We've eaten here in the evening on several occasions and recently tried out the Saturday brunch with our three kids. Never disappointed with the price, the ambience or the food. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I was expecting something quite special from Green's Dining Room after the reviews i have read and their recent Michelin recommendation. The lunchtime two course deal was frankly uninspiring with a poor choice of just two options per course, none of which greatly appealed. From the lunchtime a la carte i chose lamb chump with cous cous salad.

Well presented and well cooked high quality ingredients, the lamb was soft and pink but a little cooler than i would have liked. the cous cous was packed with flavour and the accompanying potatoes tasted like like they had only been out of the ground for a few hours.

Great quality and well cooked but lacking the wow factor i had expected. Service was friendly and the restauant is a nice calm pleasant place to eat.

been here three times now, last time was my birthday last eyar with my parents. this year they demanded to return for my biorthday again! What can I say, the food was amazing as ever, well cooked, fresh and really yummy. also £27 for 3 courses was a bargain, considering how much 'quality food' can cost you these days. Had an amazing goats cheese starter, a succulent duck and the most oozy, beautiful chocolate pudding ever.

Staff always friendly , informed and helpful. would go every week if I had the funds!

Been meaning to try this little place for a long time now. The menu outside always looks tempting so we booked on Friday. The place was quite full but lack of any soft furnishing meant its quite dinny and not as comfortable as you imagine it to be. Service was a little slow but overall not too bad. I think we'd anticipated this place for too long so while the food was very nice, it was just a little less impressive than I'd imagined it would be. On the whole, a decent local restaurant and I probably would re-visit.

I liked the cosy neighbourhood feeling of this restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive and I felt like I was an old friend rather than a first time diner there. The food was served quickly even though the place was busy...hate waiting too long. The food was tasty, cooked without pretentiouness and the servings are decent. The wine list covered all the varities and prices were not too high. I would highly recommend Greens. Good honest food, great staff and perfect for me as I live around the corner. The only negative would be that the place is not large enough for big parties ( 8 + ) to sit comfortably next to each other.
