What we say

Bristol is home to the first ever Ha! Ha! Bar & Kitchen and the venue continues to be one of the city’s most sought after venues for drinking and dining. Ha! Ha! is a bar and restaurant concept synonymous with great food and drink, exceptional service and stylish surroundings.

The stunning Grade 2 listed building features an exciting colour palette of rich raspberry, vibrant turquoise, sultry cocoa and ice cream vanilla. For sunnier days, there’s a gorgeous bamboo-lined courtyard garden framed by fairy-lit trees.

Completely into real food, everyday at Ha! Ha! is a performance. You’re right in the heart of the action with an open plan kitchen allowing you to see and smell your delicacies as they are being cooked.

Only fresh, premium ingredients are used to create the mouth-watering dishes, including Farm Assured chicken, and line-caught tuna. There’s a real sense of occasion and customers can see the talented Chefs whipping up fresh, homemade concoctions – all made from scratch, with nothing microwaved.

From the home comforts of the Canteen menu, such as home made fish fingers with chips and mushy peas, or 4oz sirloin steak sandwich with fried onions and Dijon mustard mayonnaise; to the more hearty fare of the "Proper Food" menu, including pork and leek sausages with bubble and squeak and onion gravy, or roasted halibut supreme on wilted spinach and chive mash; the food ranges from the satisfying snack to the full 3-course meal.

If you're looking for something "figure friendly" then there is a selection of original salads, or for those who like to treat themselves, the dessert menu features temptations such as homemade pistachio crème brûlée.

My boyfriend and I ate here on their Lunch for £5 deal - the food was great, really tasty, and easily worth the fiver, and the service was good too.

It was a lovely sunny day, and so we were able to take advantage of their pleasant garden area (which I think is actually quite a lot nicer than the interior).

While I wouldn't necessarily come here for an evening meal out, or for drinks, this Lunch for a Fiver deal is a fantastic one, with a nice choice of tasty dishes to satisfy most palettes.

The food was good but we felt that it was a little bit too pricey for what it was. Would go back though as the place itself is nice and relaxed

I can't believe how expensive this place has become and how small the portion sizes are now. It's been about six months since I was last here and this place either couldn't cope with the Christmas rush or is dealing with the recession by cutting back in its own way.

Lovely to sit and chat here, and even though there were several groups of office parties taking place around us it still felt uncrowded and relaxed. That said I don't think I shall be rushing back.

I went here with my boyfriend. I ordered pasta and he ordered steak. When they bought the food out they had cooked him chicken so took it back along with mine. When they returned with the correct meal I could tell mine had just been left on the side whilst they cooked his steak and as I tried some pasta it was stone cold. I complained about this and they put it into the microwave to warm up. By this point I'd gone past being hungry and didn't want it. We wont be going there again.

The Food at Ha Ha! is always good. The staff are friendly and our food was brought to us in good time. Disappointed to find out they have stopped making their own sauces though!!

The restaurant area was pretty full so we ate in the bar area to the left of the bar. It was a bit noisy as it was a Thursday night but not so noisey we couldn't hear each other.

Considering this is essentially pub food it really is quite good, popping in on a weekday evening lacking the energy to cook I opted for the chicken breast wrapped in crispy ham on seasonal vegetables, my partner for the chicken and chorizo. The dish was beautifully presented, the chicken moist with just the right crispiness to the ham and the accompanying vegetables were fresh and nicely cooked. For the quality and portion size the prices are very reasonable at around nine pound per plate. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. Good pub food!
