I visited with a few friends as wewere looking for a reasonably priced good snack-lunch. The menu is good solid pub food. The wedges were fantastic and the burger patties were all handmade and were very good too.

The pub looks like it is going down the "Gastro" route but as long as the food stays home cooked and at this quality then it won't go far wrong.

Prices were pretty reasonable too at just under a tenner for the "Ultimate" chilli burger.

The HopHouse is a friendly pub in Clifton Village, with a more intimate restaurant upstairs. The pub itself can get quite rowdy at the weekends, especially when the rugby's on, but the restaurant tends to be quieter.

My partner and I shared some fishcakes to start, then I had one of the specials: duck breast with apricots, on a bed of spinach with a very tasty mash. He had a rack of lamb with bubble and squeak which was very tasty (and quite cheap), but sadly did not come with the noisettes, and so was not as much lamb as he had expected. Dessert was amazing - one of the chefs is from Ecuador, and had made a traditional Ecuadorian pudding, involving sponge and lots of milk - even for someone who doesn't like milk that much, this was phenomenal. All of this was accompanied by a rather drinkable and reasonably priced bottle of Malbec (one of my favourites).

The service was fantastic; the waitress could not have done more for us that evening, and she was super friendly to boot. The atmosphere was not brilliant, as there was only one other table in the restaurant with us, but everything else was great.
