Named after the 18th century artist, essayist and raconteur (no, we hadn't heard of him either), Horts is a sociable bar and dining room decked out in pink pastels, leather chairs, garish lounge seating and serving a variety of bar snacks including wraps, ciabattas, BLT and salads. The carve-your-own-roasts on Sundays is fun.

Went here for a quick lunch with my boyfriend, ordered normal sandwiches/chips, I had a chicken wrap with little to no chicken which didnt smell the best and my chips were cold and undercooked.
Whole lunch was inedible and disappointing, would not go back to eat!

Lunch at Horts

Horts is a big bar next to the Thistle hotel in Bristol city centre, with great décor and comfy seating. On Saturday lunchtime it was not to quiet but no ware near busy.
Ordered at the bar; Carrot & coriander soup and beer battered fish & chips. I felt it was slightly over an average price for a lunch but the food was very nice and worth the extra couple of pounds per dish. One little hick up before I tell you about the food… the waiter bought out the food and placed it on the table, went off and came back 2 minutes later with the cutlery. Just a little bit of constructive criticism > bring out the cutlery before the food and this problem will be no more.
Smooth creamy taste to the soup, coriander was not over powering. Personal I would prefer to have a nice warm baguette in place of the slices of bread that came with the soup.
Well presented and well cooked fish and chips, nice and chunky seasoned very well crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside; just how chips should be. Would have loved the peas that came with this dish to be mush peas (that would have made it perfect)
Overall very good meal, I will be back for a dinner one day in the future.
