Jacks Brasserie
The latest venture of the Fosters Group, a long-standing, family-owned Bristol company, Jacks is the first restaurant to open on the Portishead Marina. With great views over the water, and a contemporary and clean design, the Portishead Jacks is perfect for dining alfresco and enjoying the afternoon sun. Even in less agreeable weather, the view can still be admired from within.
The cuisine is contemporary British with a European twist. The innovative menu, sourced locally and changed daily, ranges from brunch through light lunches and afternoon tea to an extensive a la carte list. Starters might include fennel and almond soup or baked goat's cheese with marinated beetroot salad and walnut dressing. Mains on offer might include rump of lamb with aubergine caponata, spinach and salsa verde or smoked haddock and parsley risotto with a poached egg. The extensive wine list is sourced exclusively for Jacks.

we went in June and had a fantastic meal as we were told by friends that there was a new chef there.
Thought we would go back and upon this visit staff seemed uninterested in what they were doing, service was slow for an average night, quality of food has declined, seems to be another new chef in the kitchen!
We had steaks which were overcooked prawns with the steak were overcooked and chewy and staff not bothered about it when we complained.
WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Took some friends here for dinner as had a really nice experience on my last visit some time ago. Unfortunately on this occasion the food and service can only be described as average. The hostess/head waitress seemed uninterested in looking after us and despite the restaurant not being busy, they did nothing to convince us to prolong our visit. Food was bland and uninteresting but at least edible. Perhaps they were just having an off day but I won't be visiting again for the foreseeable future.
