My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant once before and we enjoyed the evening...the food was good and the staff were friendly, although we did find the restaurant a little cold! They could do with turning the heating up a bit.

Because of our previous experience we decided to get a take away from the Kolkatta this evening...It was awfull! The worst take away we have ever eaten! First of all they got our order wrong and secondly it was cold and stale!

I don't know if take away customers are given the leftovers from the day before but it certainly tasted like it. NEVER AGAIN. In consolation when my wife complained they did offer our money back but without apology.

We visited this restaurant last night and what a let down! The waitess was very rude especially when I brought to her attention that our poppadoms were stale, I was told they were fresh YESTERDAY! In my opinion, that is not fresh! She agreed to replace them after much huffing and puffing to only bring out another portion of stale ones - I told her they were cold to which she placed her hand on them to test for their temperature - I was completely blown away! I wouldn't eat in this restaurant if you paid me - go up the road to Gnasha! Main course was standard. I also fail to see why a restaurant that serves chips and salad doesn't also provide vinegar. On 2 occasions now coffee has been unavailable which also amazes me when they have a coffee machine on the bar and a supermarket cross the road.

I'm a bit of a fussy blighter when it comes to curries but my boyfriend and I agreed we couldn't fault any element of this meal. Very good sized portions, beautiful fluffy naan, high quality of meat and great service.

Great value too - probably because you are sat opposite the Asda in Bedminster - we had poppodams/chutneys, 2 meat curries, 1 x veg side dish, 1 naan, 1 rice and 2 pints of lager for £32...and we're stuffed. Their Kerala menu looks interesting too - a bit different from the usual korma and madras. My new favourite and def worth a trip in from town.

Lovely food, lovely staff. It's often quiet during the week but gets very busy at weekends. I've been a few times now and have not been dissapointed. Recommended.

You can imagine what the quality and quantity of food has to be to get a 10 out of 10. Awesome! Delicious! Palatable - running out of adjectives. If you want to taste authentic Indian food, my recommendation will always be Kolkatta Kitchen.

These guys know how to prepare the real deal..!

As a huge fan of Indian restaurants, and having read the latest review of Kolkatta Kitchen on EatOut today, when my friend suggested we went for an Indian after work, I was quick to suggest we went here and I certainly was not disappointed.

The restaurant is owned by the guys who own Old India in the Centre of Bristol and once again they have created a nice restaurant. I was informed by the Owner, that the chef who was second in charge at Old India, is now in charge at Kolkatta, so immediately, I was expecting a similar experience.

I cannot quite understand the comment about "sweet dishes" on the menu, yes there were a fair few mild dishes but equally there were plenty of medium and spicy dishes (it would have been useful if the menu told me the hotness of all the dishes tbh). I had a Chicken Khorai and My friend had a Madras and this was accompanied with a garlic and onion and cheese naan and of course popadoms. All in all the dishes were tasty (althought I would have preferred more sauce) and I would certainly recommend this if in the area....

It is going to be an interesting fight for supremacy in the Indian restaurant market on Bedminster parade between Ganesha and Kolkatta but I personally could not choose between the two....go try them both out I suggest !

This is a very basic restaurant, which i think has spent alot of money on decorating but not on hiring good chefs. Certainly not what i excpected. Most of the curries were sweet and were certainly not outstanding. The drinks were too expensive and food took lot of time to arrive. Naan bread start from £2.50 and bottle of cobra costs £ 4 .50

... a decent curry house in Bedminster. I was worried that this was going to be one of those boutique modern curry house experience of the type that have sprung up in Brum in recent years. Overpriced overly experiemental sterile eating experiences that make you wish you;d had a take away. I couldn't have been more wrong. This is the best curry house I have visited for ages.

The ambience is good- despite being empty the night we were there, the staff were first rate and friendly and made us feel completely welcome. Fantastic range of dishes, including old favourites and new ones as well, their popadom chutneys were fab and things got better and better as the meal progressed. Price wise it's amazingly reasonable- normally I'd expect to pay much more for curry of this quality and they serve Kingfisher by the pint. What's not to love?!
