as i was sent a half price meal voucher from la tasca i felt only polite to go and make the most of this and so i took my girlfriend down to la tasca on the triangle.

the overall feel of the place was warm and homely, however once seated it felt a little less impressive. the staff were fairly good, smiley and friendly but an average skill. the food for me was the biggest let down though. as it was half price we thought wed try a selection of dishes and so got around 8 - 10 to sample. as i have had tapas in spain itself as well as other bars i was expecting something a little tasty but was disapointed when the chorizo came swimming in greasy oil and my paella was dry and crisp on top. it had clearly been re-heated in a microwave and tasted a true reflection of old re-heated food. the patatas bravas were a big disapointment for me as this is a simple dish and if done right are a lovely touch. these were however overcooked and burnt on a few sides and the potatoes were old as they were powdery and had blue spots on. i could complain about more dishes but i figure this gives the general idea. the wine was however very delicious and the sanghria left a fruity spicey taste to the evening. if i had gone out for drinks i would give this place 4/5 but as this is based on a reflection of the food i can only score a low 2 on this occasion.

  • Good Food, Poor Service

Visited on a quite Monday night, we should have known what we were in for when we turned up a few minutes before our booking and the waitress looked at here watch and said that we were early. Er yes we were by a couple of minutes on a quite Monday!

We were asked to go to the bar were we had some drinks and then were shown to our table. The waitress then proceeded to tell us what was not available, which was quite a few things from the main menu. We then had a chat and decided that we would go for the two mixed tapa’s. A waiter then come to take our order and we started off asking for olives and bread, only to be told that they had ran out of olives.

A Tapas bar with olives, whatever next! We then gave the rest of our order and also ordered a bottle of wine.

Time flowed past as we chatted and had a laugh until we realised that we were still awaiting our wine, half and hour after we ordered. I tried to get the waiters eye, but failed so got up and chased him. I then chased him again a further 10 mins latter. Eventually the wine turned up and by then we also wanted two more beers, so also ordered these. These then took another 10mins and another chase to turn up.

After about an hour after placing our order, again we had to chase and asked if we could have some food please. The food soon turned up and we tucked in. Yuk the first two dishes that we tried (Calamares Andaluza aka deep fried calamari and Gambas Gabardina aka Deep fried prawns) tasted awful, like they had been cooked in burnt oil. We complained and the waitress apologised and offered us alternatives dishes. The rest of the food was lovely and the two replacement dishes were excellent.

Whilst eating our food we overheard the table behind us asking for Garlic Mayonnaise, having to chase for it a number of times, only then to be told that they had ran out! At the end of our meal we were offered pudding, but by then we had had enough and decided to call it a day.

We have always found La Tasca to be good, but wonder if they have the right staff and attitude at this one.

It is my first time to try Spanish food. can't judge the dishes, but I like the sauce very much. The food seems really small sized, but turns out enough.

The staffs are very frendily and welcome, the atmosphere is gantastic, especially the one on queen's road. It is a nice place for friends to get together. I won't mind go there again, but I can't say i will definitely go back.

If you're hungry & not fussed about having an authentic tapas experience, then this fits the bill as you can stuff yourself to bursting point for a tenner. It's edible, just....but not much more & if you have had *proper* Spanish tapas, it's not going to do much for you at all. Most dishes pretty unremarkable and anything hot is nuked to within an inch of its life, pretty much what you'd expect from a large chain.

There arent that many good tapas places in Bristol, but this large chain is certainly one of them. Have been here on quite a few occassions and it has never failed to dissapoint!

The suroundings, atmosphere and food is all superb, very authentic music plays throughout the rustic, beautifully lit restaurant.

If you have never been before you may think that it is expensive, however the portions are very large, me and my partner ordered 10 tapas first time we went, but we could barely manage 7! Although all the dishes are flavoursome and beautifully cooked i would definately reccommend the paella, the meatballs and the lamb stew- they are excellent!

The drinks are also great, an extensive list of spanish wine and of course freshly made sangria available by the bucket load.

This really is a venue that caters for all occassions, great food, great atmosphere and it makes a refreshing change from the traditional restaurants!

Never been to a tapas restaurant before but really enjoyed it. Liked being able to try various foods. Food was nice and not too bad price-wise. Did one of the deals for beginners as didn't know what to have and was pleased with this thinking it a great idea to help newbies to the tapas restaurant. Something new I've tried and would have again.

The staff are friendly and helpful and this branch is not as cold as the one on the Triangle. Good food although some of the rice dishes were a little dry which suggests they may have been waiting under a heat lamp for a while, which is pretty naughty considering it wasn't that busy at the time. Good drinks selection, and some great offers on food available.

The food overall is not too bad, I have had the Tapas and the Paella but the prices unless you have a special can start to rack up quickly and there seems to be a long delay in actually getting your food which is not good if you have children.

I love this place, when you want to go out for some really tastey simple food, with a really laid back atmosphere and at a good price, its got to be la tasca everytime. The staff are always really nice and helpfull too.

the tapas for a tenner is great, you order some real traditional spanish food, while being in a really nice setting. none of this modern nonsense which you pay through the nose for, its just pure spanish settings, with a really cosy relaxing decor makes you feel like your in Barcelona, with good old traditional food that tastes great. not for every one, but me and my friends love it. at least give it a go.

Been here a few times and for the £10 eat as much tapas as you like.

Have to say it's not great and the food is very poor quality for the price of the standard menu

Give this a miss and head to El Puerto's instead, better quality and more traditional!
