The casbah is the oldest or original part of a North African town and Lacasbah was the first restaurant to offer Moroccan cuisine in Bristol, having started life as a café serving mint tea and sweets. Today this family-run community-based venue is an oasis of Moroccan authenticity which encompasses not only the food but also the décor, the tables and chairs, the pottery (there is a gallery which sells art work and artefacts) and the music. The creative menu includes lamb and chicken and plenty of fish as well as many vegetarian dishes and the full range of Moroccan sweets. Lacasbah operates a BYO policy, with no corkage, and on those long Bristol summer evenings, so evocative of the sights, sounds and smells of old Marrakesh, you can sit outside and sip and nibble and sing songs of family flocks of sheep.

This is a little gem in the heart of Easton. A quirky little cafe/restaurant with buzzy ambience. Food and service is excellent. I asked foran extra-spicy Dejajhar which was incredibly tasty. Check it out!

I love this place. Not only is it rediculously cheap (between 5-8 pound for a main meal, 2-3 pounds fo a starter), but the food itself is cooked so well and tastes amazing.
You can bring your own wine as well, with no corkage, so then you can always have exacty what you want. I recently introduced some friend's to the Old Casbah, and now they keep trying to get us to go again soon! Brilliant food and ambiance.
