Before the phrase 'fast-food chain' comes to mind, there's a reason why Las Iguanas has three local branches - the sheer quality of the place. The suitable hustle-and-bustle of the Harbourside adds to the party atmosphere of this Latin American restaurant with set lunch and happy hour deals meaning it's not only any good for the harbourside nightlife. The outside tables on the Square offer a real continental feel while enjoying the house speciality xinxim (Brazilian lime chicken in creamy crayfish and peanut sauce).

2nd meal on our first visit to Bristol. We were checking out the square and hoping to have a pre-dinner drink at the habour front. We stopped as there were a few tables occupied outdoors, customers soaking up the rays.
We noticed they had caipirinha with cachaça (the proper way). The barman was friendly and professional. Measured everything by eye (generous). When we came to pay, was told it was happy hour, so 2 for the price of 1. We've never paid so little for caipirinhas in our travels. So were chuffed to get the cheapest, and high standard caipirinhas in Bristol!
We read the menu and decided to have our dinner there too. We thought the selection of Brazilian dishes sounded tasty. We were not disapointed. They were outstanding. We had XinXim & Pescado Con CoCo.
Service was excellent from 3 out of the 4 waiters that served us. Cocktail barman who also served was the best.
Just found out from their website that there are branches in London. Will definitely try them again.

went as a group of about 20 and found the set menu for xmas groups quite expensive compared to the usual menu. Normally love Las Iguanas but as a group the service wasn't great and the meals not that exciting at all.

I love this place it's so simple but does everything so well.
Go there for cocktails and Fajitas, Cocktails are the Best in Bristol and the Fajitasare a very close second to CASA MEXICANA
They really know what they are doing! Food is honest well cooked and good value and the atmosphere is hard to beat.

I am usually a big fan of Las Iguanas....you like tapas and cocktails, this is a good choice to go with friends....HOWEVER, I went with friends on Tuesday evening, the place was not particulary busy and we had some beers and some food. The food arrived within good time but it was quite clear that the chilli had been warmed up and none of the food was piping hot as I would expect from any restaurant. We also ordered some Nachos and the size of the portion really was not very good......ANYWAY, we complained to the manager, who was very polite about the situation, she got us some more Nachos and got our food made again and although still not piping hot, it was better. This will not stop me going to Las Iguanas but I will think again before ordering Tapas.....

I love this place, its great to go with friends or your family/children. Food is excellent, I love the tapas, cocktails are good especially when its 2 for 1, atmosphere is nice and lively and the staff are very good even when its really busy such as our last visit when the harbour festival was on. I can't fault it really!

Childrens meals are great!

The children's meals are larger than expected so I would give them a huge thumbs up as my 11 year old was full after his which is no mean feat these days. My meal was as expected to be honest, I ordered a burger and got a slightly spicy burger.
The atmosphere is quieter inside than out with a more party like scene going on for the groups I could see but sadly the whole experience was let down by the waiting staff. They were great when I could catch someone's eye but the moved so fast from table to table and then would often just disappear for what seemed like a very long time.
It didn't seem overly busy which could have excused them on a Saturday but I will be going again when I'm in the area just for the children's meals.

Could've been 4 stars, but...

I want to give Las Iguanas a 4 stars for the Ambiance because it's a fun place to eat but I'm going to give it a 3. One thing which annoys me is that there is no cheese with the fajitas which I expect there to be. And they will charge you for it when you ask for some which I think is a bit cheeky.
