If you are bored with the usual scenery of restaurants in Birmingham, Locanta is a place you should definitely try, with a cosy intimate downstairs and a great view over St Paul's Square upstairs.
Tucked nicely away, with a lovely relaxing atmosphere, it offers freshly-cooked Italian pastas and pizzas and a choice from the grill, including the tastiest Scottish fillet steak. There is also a wide range of tapas and mezze selections, perfect if you feel like treating yourself before a night out.
Locanta also offers a good range of wines at very decent prices with something to suit anyone, from a very affordable house red to a bottle of Dom Perignon.

We visited Locanta in August for my birthday - there were 4 of us in the party.
The location of Locanta is lovely, its a shame that it was raining the night we went as I was looking forward to finishing our drinks outside after the meal on the decking which we have been able to do before.
The starters were very tasty and I would highly recommend the garlic mushrooms. We were very impressed with the main course, 2 of the party had the steak which they enjoyed and I had the fish which was cooked to perfection.
Locanta has very quickly become a firm favourite of mine and would recommend anyone to go I have not been able to fault the food each time I have been. The staff are very attentive and always happy to help you when asked.

We dined here for my birthday and were seated upstairs. The restaurant was lively with a good atmosphere and the staff were attentive and helpful.
Our fillet steaks came as ordered, fairly good but not the best you can get. The peppercorn sauce was a little too fiery though.
We ended our meal with Zabaglione which was a little disappointing...it hadn't set properly and was very runny.
Overall a good place to eat if you want decent food but without having to pay expensive city centre prices. Location is also lovely.
