I came here with a friend to have a long overdue catch-up, and dinner was great. We shared a portion of garlic bread and had a carafe of house red. He had spaghetti with clams which he said was really tasty, and I had penne alla siciliana, which comes with a tomato and sausage sauce.
I don't know which Mamma Mia the reviewer below went to, because it certainly wasn't the one I went to - service was friendly and efficient, the meal was good value and not overpriced, and I definitely didn't feel sick later!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you want a romantic, intimate evening with no pretensions - this place isn't trying to be Carluccio's or San Carlo, it's perfectly comfortable in its family-run simplicity. I will continue to come back here for a long long time.

worst restaurant in Bristol

A few points about Mamma Mia - the place looks dark and gloomy, not quite dark and candlelit. Children are allowed to run free throughout the restaurant. The waitress does not show you to a table. The food and drinks are overpriced for what they are. They're trying to charge £14.50 for Lambrusco. There are no descriptions with any of the foods or drinks. When we asked which wines were dry - waitress replied 'I don't know, I don't drink wine' then finally offered to ask about it. The food was not good and left us feeling sick later on. The worst restaurant we've been to in Bristol.
