What we say

This light and airy bar and restaurant is situated in the centre of Solihull and has fast established itself as a place to be seen. As soon as you enter through the wide glass-fronted entrance you are met by a welcoming central bar and friendly faces.

Cream walls, abstract colourful artworks, sophisticated soft lighting and a warm slate wall all help to give this Metro a stylish and laid back feel.

Like the original Metro Bar & Grill in Birmingham, this one has a menu dominated by steaks, seafood and grills with great pastas and salads and a daily changing fresh fish board featuring dishes such as roasted halibut with crayfish sauce and crushed new potatoes. There are also some delicious desserts to choose from, such as the indulgent toffee and Baileys cheesecake. The ingredients used, where possible, are all sourced from local suppliers, free range and organic, so you can be sure of tasting the full flavours of every dish.

For those looking for a lighter bite, sandwiches and light plates are served all day to complement the wide range of beers, wines and Champagnes on offer from the bar and great coffee is available too.

Plush booths, leather settees and light oak floors ensure Metro fits the bill whatever the occasion, day or night and on sunny days or sultry evenings the sliding windows of the shopfront open for a great alfresco feel.

Visited on a Saturday evening, having booked a table for 7.30 pm with a good friend. Was seated in the corner by the window in a cold spot so we asked to be moved. The waitress happily moved us but it was freezing as we were then placed near the door.We ordered garlic bread it arrived dry and with a cheap and bitter Balsamic Vinegar, quite unedible.Waitress asked how was the food we told her it wasn't up to much as the bread was dry and vinegar was bitter. She apologised. We then ordered wine which was good and two mains of Rissotto.A tiny portion of what can only be likened to a packet of savory rice, with overcooked ,frazzled sea bass perched on top.We sent it back and the waitress again, was very apologetic. The food was in turn returned to us albeit the Sea Bass was now squashed down on the rice to give the illusion of a bigger portion. It had obviously been sat under a heat lamp.Bad food but good service. We refused to pay for the mains as they were overpriced, badly cooked and we got the distinct impression that someone ,somewhere was having a laugh..at our expense.

Starters and desserts were excellent. Unfortunatley the sirloin steak was more like frying steak which was very disappointing. If it was not for the other two courses, I would have still been hungry. Service was good, however we were again disappointed that a service charge had been added automatically, given that it was only a table for two!!
