In most parts of the world, food is an important social event so it is good to see the recently-opened Mezza Luna on Cardiff's City Road challenging the western way of eating.
The first thing that grabs you when you enter Mezza Luna is the remarkable décor. Great care has been taken over the look and feel of the place. The walls and ceilings are adorned by a series of hand-carved plaster carvings depicting Lebanese scenes giving the place a totally unique but welcoming feel.
Start your meal off with batata hara - a Lebanese spiced potatoes recipe; or Zahra maglia - fried cauliflower topped with sesame oil and other spices. You may well be overwhelmed with the choice of mains, the favourites being the breast meshwi - chicken breast marinated with fresh chilli and garlic, stone-baked and served with their special rosemary potatoes; or try the chicken al'cream with its simply delicious mushroom cream.
If by some chance you have room for dessert, why not indulge yourself in their speciality - Lebanese ice cream sprinkled with rose water and pistachio nuts.
To complement your meal, you might enjoy the fascinating flavours of their Arabic coffee and there are plenty of options from their own hand-chosen wine list.
With authentic décor, belly dancing on special occasions and charming friendly staff, a visit to Mezza Luna will be a memorable one.

A group of 10 people celebrated my birthday on mezza luna. When we arrived to restaurant it was almost empty. After waiting 10 minutes, one by one of my guests had to order drinks at the bar as we didn't have a waiter coming to our table.
After one hour wait we had our starters and a few of them where mistaken.
The rest of the night was more or less the same, we ordered drinks at the bar and we even have to ask them to serve dessert after a long wait.
Very disappointing! We had to pay service charge as it is included when the guests are over 6! Not looking forward to celebrating a party here again!!

I don't know how many times I have eaten in this place- countless basically. Iv told everyone about Mezza Luna and always advise them to eat there. I absolutely LOVE the food. My fiance is from Birmingham, when he comes down every week, we go to eat there, no questions about it. He loves it and comes all the way from BIRMINGHAM to eat here however odd that may sound! Top notch food, top notch service, top notch ambience. I cant actually see any faults. Hats off to the chef!! I came back from Egypt 2 months ago and went straight to Mezza Luna because their food is actually better than Egypt itself!
Seriously, keep up the good work. Presentation, quality of the food was brilliant. And money wise, I think its fantastic- worth every penny!!!

Have just returned home from Mezza Luna, having enjoyed a lovely evening. The food was out standing, I was amazed at the flavors, none of the dishes were greasy, all the dishes we tried were out of this world. I would go back again. The staff were fantastic and very nice. It was very clean. The decor was fantastic makes a huge difference to other places we have been, I loved it there. You must try the cauliflower in batter starters, and the lamb meatballs were amazing. Loved the melted cheese on salad.

we had a lovely surprise when we came here after a local meeting on saturday. we went in and our hearts sank when we were told that 2 parties were imminent. however, we were accommodated admirably and felt like honoured guests- the staff were delightful and their attention to us was wonderful! we were treated to delicious food, extra drinks and even belly dancing- and even got a discount with our invitation card. great stuff!!!!!

A wonderful lebanese restaurant! Fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere! It gets very busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait for your food, but they do look after you with free bread selection and a belly dancer (the chef has joined in a few times too!!) I have been here during the week and on the weekends, as a couple and with a group of friends, I would go to this restaurant again and again! If you are a bit concerned about not liking the dishes then they also do a tapas style menu too so you can try a bit of everyhting!

This is a bit of a restaurant stand by! My husband and I always fall back on this place when we can't decide- it's never let us down. The food is good and well priced. The decor is...seen to be believed!
