With consistently good service and food, Moreish should be a regular date in your gastronomic diary. And with tasteful surroundings, boasting high-backed leather dining chairs and matching dark wood tables, it is also a very comfortable experience.
Since opening two years ago, owner Tim Moores and his team have made this one of Bristol's favourite spots with a menu offering a fine selection of locally-sourced, fresh ingredients encompassing a good range of tastes and textures. For starters try the chicken liver and foie gras parfait with pickles and red onion marmalade or the Cornish crab cake with Scottish smoked salmon and salsa verde. Mains may include the likes of roast chicken breast with Parmesan and thyme polenta cake; or seared trout steak on olive mash and pak choi with sweet chilli and lime dressing. To finish, the warm chocolate fondant with its oozing chocolate centre perfectly accompanied by white chocolate ice cream and caramel mousse is superb.
There is an excellent selection of well-chosen, good value wines to complement your meal or simply for quaffing on the decked alfresco area. With atmosphere, food and excellent service to boot, Moreish remains a top-class but informal neighbourhood eatery.

Great modern resturant

This is my second visit to Moreish, the first being a long time ago.
My wife is a vegetarian and the menu catered very well for her.
The portions were just about the right size, though I probably could have eaten more, I do have a very hearty appetite.
The quality of the food was exceptional. The mushroom starter arrived on thick homemade bread and the tase was excellent. My wife's gazpacho too was very good.
The mains were brough promptly after the starters were finished and once again, didn't disappoint.
My wife's onion and parmesan tarte and my duck with bok choi were both of the highest quality.
The staff were friendly and attentive though the restaurant lacked a little ambiance, probably because we were eating early and there were very few people in.
The prices were very competitive, especially for the quality of the food served.
Overall, an excellent experience and one I will be repeating again soon hopefully.

Food great, service not

On this occasion, good food was let down by very poor service. After arriving, we were left without attention for about 15 minutes. A complimentary bread basket would have made the wait for starters more tolerable. Only 2 waiting staff on a busy Saturday evening meant slow, uncoordinated service, particularly as the kitchen seems to be situated downstairs - ergonomically, this venue doesn't seem to work very well. Unusually, the soup came without bread, which is a payable, added extra. By the time it had arrived, we had all finished! They had run out of white wine and the dessert served was different to that on the menu - however, we were not consulted as to whether or not this was suitable! Generally, the food was pretty good; unfortunately it doesn't make up for the poor service, and I'm sorry to say that a return visit is unlikely.

I visited this restuarant for the third time just before Christmas and it's becoming one of my favourite restaurants of Bristol and certainly on of the best i have eaten in. The food was excellent and the service was great. My first tatse of fois gras was amazing and the scallops perfectly cooked. The cod main was perfectly cooked and the prices here are excellent value for what you get. Can't recommend this place enough !

Moreish is small European style restaurant in Redland, the dining area is contemporary and comfortable and features a selection of buyable art on the walls. The two course option at weekends is just £22.50 per person and the menu is reassuringly small with a great reasonably priced wine list topping out at around £25 for the reds. The tempranillo (£12) was lovely. Me and my partner shared starters as it was difficult to choose between them, the goats cheese with figs was excellent, a warm flavoursome cheese with perfectly soft figs and a subtle walnut dressing, the second starter - a rabbit rillette was equally fantastic with sourdough toast, both plates were presented very well. My main course lamb was perfectly cooked pink and soft with a wonderful ratatouille again perfectly presented. The service wasn't excellent but really nothing to complain about and i would recommend everyone in Bristol to eat at Moreish as it is one the best plates of food i have eaten in the city.

Lunchtime treat

I agree about the lunch service being a bit slow. I went here over the weekend and we did have our empty plates in front of for a bit longer than necessary while the waiters polished cutlery by the till. The burgers were great though (it seemed the rest of the diners thought so too) but as I'd previously been here in the evening, I would have liked more 'restaurant' style food to choose from.
Still, great value for money if you're out for lunch and a really decent selection of soft drinks too - a great choice for the driver (or the partied-out!).

Good local restaurant

Moreish is close to my home, so very convenient. I last visited at lunchtime and was a little disappointed. Only our table was laid up, so the restaurant had a spartan, unwelcoming feel. The food was excellent. The lunchtime menu is interesting and varied, but no starters so 2 courses would have to be main and pudding only. The service was ok, but since it was not very busy, I would have expected it to be better. We had a wait a long time for the waiteress to appear after clearing our plates so that we could request cofffee. We were not asked if we would like puddings or coffee. We did not feel 'looked after' Overall, a good lacal eaterie, but could (and should)be more special.
