What we say

Opus is the quality city centre destination restaurant created by a local, award-winning team for the people of Birmingham. The modern British menu, with its emphasis on seasonal, regional produce, aims to deliver delicious flavours in a deceptively simple way, so you can celebrate the variety of quality produce and forget food by "air miles"! Enjoy authentic Cornish lamb, Aberdeenshire dry aged beef, free range Suffolk pork, Dover sole, Scottish smoked salmon and a great British cheese plate.

The Opus bar is at the heart of the restaurant and is the perfect location for pre-dinner drinks. Come in for a glass of Taittinger, the house Champagne, with half a dozen oysters or half a Scottish lobster.

Find your way around a disarmingly straightforward wine list packed with choice. The wine list has been chosen to match the food, and includes wines from innovative, pioneering winemakers alongside classic names. Over half of the wines are available by the glass, and each wine has its own tasting notes to help guide your selection. Unsurprisingly, Opus were the winner of "Best Wine List" at the Taste of Birmingham Awards 2007.

The Opus Private Room accommodates parties of up to 64 people and can be divided into two generous spaces for 32 people in each. The rooms have been designed for total privacy, yet the doors at one end of Private Room One can be opened for your party to enjoy the surrounding atmosphere. Opus can give you anything from elegant canapé parties to product launches, private business lunches to intimate dinner parties.

Easy parking outside the restaurant, which is free after 6pm, means there is nothing to stop your evening being the perfect hassle-free dining out experience.

Surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening but still a great atmosphere. Service was fantastic and food was delivered in good time. We were early, so we ordered our meals at the bar and were served complimentary olives while we waited. Overall, rather expensive but it is what you expect given the quality of food and dining experience. The presentation was immaculate. The fishcake and goat cheese starters were delicious. The fillet of beef is definitely the one to go for, much better than the venison. Being a fan of desserts, I was disappointed with the pannacotta. I expected the usual style with maybe a few raspberries to the side but it turned out to be a trifle with peaches in a glass and nuts sprinkled on top! However, we would definitely go back.

Unpretentious restaurant made so by friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere . Beautifully presented food which tasted as good as it looked and smelled .My enthusiasm was

vindicated by reading a recommendation by 'Which ?'magazine . A great treat .

Fantastic restaurant. Have now been twice. Food is excellent, especially the seafood. Restuarant has a relaxed unpretentious atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Can be pricey but worth it, especially with The Invitation Book. Can't wait to go again next year!
