What we say

In March of 2006, restaurateur and entrepreneur Abdul Hoque brought a new concept in dining to Birmingham with the launch of an industry double-first in the city.

The first pan-Asian restaurant and Bollywood Champagne bar outside London - Peppers Restaurant and Bar - opened on Bishopgate Street at a launch event featuring Bollywood stars and dancers.

The re-launch of Peppers now offers the city a unique night out by combining pan-Asian cuisine with the vibrancy of Bollywood. Mr Hoque carried out research in India to bring an unprecedented level of authenticity to the venue, even down to using door handles in the style of traditional sandals - chappas - in the bar. He says: "Bollywood is becoming more mainstream - our concept at Peppers is very much of the moment which we felt the Birmingham scene was lacking. We wanted to offer something different, and the concept of a Bollywood Champagne Bar and pan-Asian cuisine is a first for the city.

"The aim is to offer our clientele a sophisticated environment in the restaurant upstairs with food served up by our team of top Chefs from the Indian and Chinese communities". At the same time we will give them the full Bollywood experience in the bar downstairs - ideal for after a meal or if people are just out for a drink.

"The emphasis in the bar is very much on creating the full Bollywood experience and that means colour, vibrancy and most importantly fun for guests. I feel we have achieved this and are offering an experience utterly different to anything else in the market".
