First opened in London back in '86, Pitcher & Piano now boast over 20 bars and is still growing. Each one has its own flavour and style and the Bristol branch graces the V shed on Cannons Road overlooking the Docks. It's a cleverly designed, large and accommodating space with deep wood floors and a bewildering number of sofas for romantic assignations. It's not difficult to imagine a scene from Ocean's Eleven being filmed in the place with the smartly-lit bottles behind the bar.
Food-wise, there's something for most moods, time-slot and budget; lighter bites including baked Camembert posh sandwiches and the ubiquitous Caesar salad, with mains ranging from classic burgers and sausages to belly of pork and veggie moussaka. But P&P is at its best in the evening when the bubbly abounds…

Awful food

We visited on a Friday evening for a quick dinner before heading out, we had eaten here once before a long time ago and thought we would take advantage of a 2 for 1 offer on mains. I ordered the Pork Belly which ranks as one of the most horrible plates of food I have eaten in Bristol. The meat itself was not realy at fault, but the Bramley apple chutney served on top was mouth puckeringly sweet and was probably exactly the same over sweetened goo they put in their dessert apple pie. The mash was lumpy and tasted of very little and it all came swimming in a curious oily thin liquid which apparently was a cider and sage gravy. My wedge of savoy cabbage was curiously absent and had been replaced by a pile, and I use that term literally, of poorly cooked strips of parsnip. This dish had no redeeming features and at £9.50 it should have been much much better. This is sub standard pub food pretending to be bistro food and although the service was friendly and efficient it did not compensate for the food. Avoid this place for food.

The Pitcher and Piano is in a great location overlooking Bristol's harbourside, and with lots of outdoor seating it's great in the summer. Sadly on my visit in November it was a bit cold for that but at lunchtimes the Pitcher and Piano always seems surprisingly quiet and there are always loads of tables to be found indoors too. The food is always very tasty - high class pub food - including burgers, sandwiches and some tasty mains like Lancashire hotpot and tarragon chicken - and the service is always good and attentive even if it does lack a bit of ambience before its after work rush.

The Pitcher and Piano provides a modern take on some classic dishes which leave you feeling fulfilled and happy after an enjoyable dining experience. With the dining card you cannot argue with the value.

You get a choice of great comfy sofas or initimate dining, great bistro menu (much more than just pub grub), good choice of wines and cocktails!
Ive been here on a few occasions with friends and have had a wide range of meals including roasted veg sarnie, portabello mushroom starter (delish) and a sharing platter....which was disappointing, all deep fried and sickly. However the salads are fresh and tasty! Its a great place to eat as can stick around for cocktails and drinks after and plenty of other nearby bars, this is the best bar in the rank in my opinion, nice seating area outside in the summer on the river!
I will be going back soon!!

They had a sale on for 2-for-1 meals which made this even better! The place is really stylish and looks great-very inviting. Some of the furniture however is starting to fall apart a bit! But the food was delicious! I would recommend the food to anyone!
