What we say

The brainchild of English eccentric Peter Boizot and fiery Italian designer Enzo Apicella, Pizza Express brings the true tastes of Italy to the British high street. A vivid, passionate approach to dining originates from the synergy of cultures from the two very different men – Italian flair and panache coupled with English creativity and idiosyncrasy.

Now the restaurant is firmly established, providing the freshest food and the warmest welcome whoever the customer and whatever the occasion. The secret of their success is the same now as it always has been – a passion for pizza, a love of people and a relaxed but sophisticated atmosphere.

Alongside the fabulous range of pizzas sit imaginative salads and classic pasta dishes. There is plenty for vegetarians, vegans, even those with nut allergies are catered for, and children can enjoy a 3-course meal from the Piccolo menu.

When we went it was very busy, service was quite slow but the staff were all polite even though they seemed very overworked. I found the seating pretty uncomfortable and kept having people barge past me.

The food was better than expected though and was worth the wait. I imagine that on a quieter day it is probably a lovely place to eat.

This was my third visit to this particular Pizza Express and i went with a friend. We hadn't booked and it was far busier than i had expected, being nearly full to capacity. Therefore the service was slow as they didn't appear to have enough staff on and our waiter seemed a bit side tracked and depressed.

Having said that the food was delicious and the company which i brought with me made it all worthwhile. I will just put it down to bad luck as i have enjoyed my previous visits.
