What we say

This famous chain could almost be described as the Habitat of British eating. Founded in 1965, it quickly grew in reputation and branch numbers by knocking spots off all the tired, hackneyed excuses for Italian pizzerias that abounded in the 60's by focusing on producing fresh, oven-baked pizzas of quality. It's a formula which has stood it well during its growth as a corporate chain but the basic recipe of success remains.

The Berkeley Square branch is Bristol's first Pizza Express and is popular with families, groups of friends and students alike. Light, bright and buzzy, the pizzas are cooked before your eyes in traditional pizza ovens. The ingredients are classic Italian (no tandoori chicken pizza here) and the menu is always the same but that's one of P.E.'s strengths. Everyone has a favourite pizza and ice-cream and the place is always packed. Regent St is one of the biggest in the region, spread over two floors of a vast site.

dined with a friend at this restaurant today (10/07/11), the service is extremely slow. the person who served us 'kasia' was really rude and unfriendly. she banged the glasses and plates with the food on our tables and did not even apologise for it. there were very few people in the restaurant hence it wasn't like they were very busy either. she and the manager (i am assuming that he was the manager) kept laughing at the customers. the staff was busy talking to each other and behaved as if we did not exist. we had to struggle to catch their eye to ask for the food/drinks. there was no acknowledgement when we entered and had to wait for a long time to be seated even though the restaurant was almost empty! again while leaving the waitress took the bill and disappeared without a smile or thank you. in spite of the bad service i gave a tip as i did not want to be rude back but the waitress continued to be unfriendly.

even though i had made a reservation in advance mentioning that i had a tastecard (offer voucher), they initially refused to give the tastecard discount on the bill and said it is not allowed on sundays. I mentioned that i had checked on the website and it wasnt allowed on friday and saturday but it didnt say anything about sunday. the manager refused to come to the table and speak to me about this even after i tried to speak to him several times, and the server got the reduced bill overtly grudgingly only after a long drawn out process. it was an extremely bad experience and i will certainly never go this restaurant again nor will i advise anyone else i know to do so.

Pizza restaurants, especially those viewed as "fast food", get such a bad name with those who think of themselves as "foodies", however, this is one chain that always delivers top quality food at a reasonable price.

They don't rest on their laurels and always seem to have something new and different to tempt you with no matter how often you visit.

Our starters and pizzas and desserts were all great and served with a smile and in good time

I am a regular vistor to this particular Pizza Express, the service is top quality and the venue is great for drinks out after.

The pizzas are by far the best i've ever had (I prefer the thin and crispy; they have a new range which are fantactic) and the starters are fresh and tasty.

The restaurant is always busy and buzzing but turnaround is quick so you don't have to wait for long for a table if full.

The classy cousin to Pizza Hut, Pizza Express offers a tasty selection of pizzas, pastas, salads and nice side dishes (like their baked dough balls) at affordable prices - suitable for dining out with friends, family or work. The only letdown at the Park Street restaurant was the confusion caused presenting two Invitation Book cards when trying to redeem the 'buy one get one free main course' offer for a table of four but otherwise great stuff!

Pizza Express always has delicious pizzas with probably some of the best choices and good prices to match. The service was a little slow but then again the restaurant was heaving with people!

The restaurant itself is quite large - try and ask for a seat by the window otherwise you could end up on a table in the middle of the room.

I visiting the restaurant with my boyfriend. We have been there a few times before and as usual we had a pleasant time. The service was a little slow, but the food was excellent. I will be visiting again as this is a nice, easy and inexpensive option.

Pizza Ezpress are also very happy to accept the Invitation Card.

Went in Pizza Express with my girlfriend, her sister and 2 small children. Waiter was very welcoming especially with the kids. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. No hesitation when it came to using the Invitation Card. Pleasantly surprised.
