This famous chain could almost be described as the Habitat of British eating. Founded in 1965, it quickly grew in reputation and branch numbers by knocking spots off all the tired, hackneyed excuses for Italian pizzerias that abounded in the 60's by focusing on producing fresh, oven-baked pizzas of quality. It's a formula which has stood it well during its growth as a corporate chain but the basic recipe of success remains.
The Berkeley Square branch is Bristol's first Pizza Express and is popular with families, groups of friends and students alike. Light, bright and buzzy, the pizzas are cooked before your eyes in traditional pizza ovens. The ingredients are classic Italian (no tandoori chicken pizza here) and the menu is always the same but that's one of P.E.'s strengths. Everyone has a favourite pizza and ice-cream and the place is always packed. Regent St is one of the biggest in the region, spread over two floors of a vast site.

It was tempting go into the resturent as it was busy. we were waiting to get served for nearlly 1hour and food served finaly. It was realy dissapointing, the pizza were really bland and dough wasn't cooked either. Not going back there again....

Been here a few times before and it has always been OK but last Monday 10 of us waited an hour for some very poor pizza.
Two tables came in after us and were served before us.
Pizza had little topping and were burnt in places.
In fact my pizza they has forgotten to put one of the toppings on it!
Service was very slow too.
it might just be a Monday night thing but the Pizza costs the same be it Monday or Saturday so i expect the same level of service and product.

It pains me to read good reviews about this mediocre, at best, chain 'restaurant'. I have nothing against chain restaurants, except when there as bland, flavourless and forgettable as this!
There are so many wonderful restaurants in clifton and all over Bristol, why would you go here?? i just dont understand!
I know that all the food already comes in frozen, they dont use fresh ingredients, and as a result you get very bland and dull food! Its the same in everyone, there are no specials etc just the same boring grub
The only positive thing that i can say about Pizza Express is that more often than not the decor is pretty good, better than ask!
Nothng stands out about this restaurant, if you want italian and you want it ti be special try, piccolinos, strada or San carlos, they are a thousand times better than this place!!

Pizza Express in Clifton remains a big favourite of ours. I've lost count of the number of times we have eaten there now. The restaurant is in a great setting and the food is always of a good quality and the staff are extremely friendly.
With our Invitation card we get fantastic value for money getting one main course free. If only they would bring back the half bottles of house red.
