Queen Square Dining Room & Bar is the latest addition to the fashionable bars and restaurants around elegant Queen Square and is located close to the Old Vic and Hippodrome theatres.
The modern British menu uses fresh local ingredients that change seasonally. There's a good selection of tasty fare to choose from; rump of lamb with mutton suet pudding and young carrots; rib of beef with béarnaise sauce and hand cut chips; oxtail ravioli or potted brown shrimps with brown bread and herb butter; and there's plenty of choice for vegetarians and fish lovers.
The wine list is a combination of excellent value New World wines mixed with both classics and new discoveries from the Old World. The cask ales (London Pride and Butcombe) and imported draught lagers (Heineken and Amstel) are looked after with loving care. Friendly and informed staff wait on your tables, whether you are eating or just enjoying a drink.

This was the first place my partner and i ate, following the arrival of my invitation book! And we were not dissapointed, this was a great first choice!!
The atmosphere and ambience is very up tempo, the sound of music, chatter and clink of wine glasses fill the air, very different to somewhere like Goldbrick House, City Cafe Inn or Juniper, more like The Picture House. However i enjoy this atmosphere just as much as somewhere quiter.
The selection of starters were poor, and my partner couldnt find anything he fancied, i had a salmon dish which was very simple, but beautiful! There was a greater choices of main courses, and they were simply divine, i had a beautiful lamb dish, that was cooked perfectly. My partner had what he described as the best Duck he had ever had, and this being his favourite meat was quite a compliment, and to be honest i had to agree!!
Unfortunately the choice of desserts, like the starters, was limited, and when it did arrive, although was very nice was not to the superb standard of the mains.
However overall this was a great restauarant, and we had a great evening, the food and drink was to a high standard, the service was a little lacking but it hardly affected the night.
In the nicest possible way i think this is a restauarant for the younger section of society, it is quite loud and vibrant, probably wouldnt suit those looking for a quiet romantic evening!
Looking forward to returning though, the food is beautiful
