Scruffy's is perhaps the most relaxed restaurant in Nottingham, and the only place where you can arrive in your most comfortable clothes, enjoy a superb meal, and fit right in.
With restaurants in the Lace Market and Derby Road, each embodies a comfortable environment, warm atmosphere and sociable service. Scruffy's also prides itself on its hearty portions and reasonable prices, so you won't be left feeling short changed in any sense!
Newly refurbished, the Derby Road branch is a lovely spot for a great meal. The fresh decor lends itself to nearly every occasion, whether it be a romantic evening or a large party, and the warm ambience is offset with the retro-themed chairs and innovative wall decor.
Those with a healthy appetite for good food will be pleased to hear that every meal from the pub-styled, restaurant-prepared menu is "belly busting-tastic". The menu spans a range of homemade burgers, pasta dishes, fresh salads, "create your own" stir-fry, plus classic dishes such as Lincolnshire pork sausages and shepherd's pie. There's no quarter on the desserts either – Dime bar cheesecake, raspberry crème brûlée and lemon meringue pie are enough to tempt even the most resilient dessert-dodger.
From the legendary home-made 'Scruffy' burger to the wickedly relaxed Sunday Service, this place deserves its status as one of Nottingham's favourites.

Not the Scruffy's that we love

First fell in love with Scruffy's way back as a student in Nottingham due to it's laidback decor, fun menu and atmosphere. Decided to go back there with some friends last night but was left bitterly disappointed. It has new owners and new decor which was basically plain white walls and mirrors. The restaurant area seemed really empty with a few tables spaced out. Basically any character that used to be in Scruffy's has gone. Aside from that the food was ok. I had a steak and had to ask for a steak knife as I'd been given a normal one! We also had a starter of bread and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The oil and vinegar mix was so bad that when you dipped the bread all you got was oil. In the end we had to ask for another bowl to scoop the oil out as even trying to mix it didn't work. To finish we had tea and coffee. The tea basically tasted of limescale and at £2 for a small pot surely the kettle could have been descaled. Maybe these are teething problems that the new owners will sort out but unfortunately there was nothing that would tempt me back.
