What we say

Shanghai Nights has already earned a reputation as a premier restaurant for Chinese cuisine, and is somewhere all different types of diners are catered for; whether they come for business, banquets, lunch, family meals or the tempting buffet, to name a few of the many reasons people choose to visit.

A balanced menu has been designed, using the age old philosophy of Ying and Yang taken from the old masters of the Orient. Delicacies sourced from different regions of China and Asia have been carefully incorporated into this exotic and varied cuisine by proprietor George Lai.

Award-winning décor, influenced by 1940s Shanghai, the "Paris of the East", gives the restaurant a unique atmosphere and enhances the dining experience.

Shanghai nights are also proud to present a new executive Dim Sum Chef to Bristol. The Cantonese phrase "dim sum" means literally "touch the heart"; in dining, dim sum is the name of the Chinese cuisine involving a light meal served with Chinese tea.

Dim sum cuisine consists of a wide spectrum of choices. It includes combinations of meat, seafood, vegetables, as well as desserts and fruit, and provides the ideal option for an exciting lunch, or a varied and exotic dinner, all at prices reasonable enough for you to try as many of the varied selection as you like.

We went here on the recommendation of this web site. The location was somewhat unexpected in a street away from shops and it looked a little seedy, though a large police station was close by. The restaurant itself was however a surprise, and we were outnumbered significantly by the number of Chinese eating there.

The food was excellent - a fixed price menu of amazing variety. It was well cooked, tasty and plentiful and represents excellent value for money.

The ambiance was lively with tables a decent distance apart. Service was OK-polite and reasonably quick, though mistakes in orders seemed frequent at our an other tables.

The bill was less than £50.00 for two and that included drinks, all the fod you could eat and a £2 supplement for a huge plate of ran crackers.

    We will be back!

Went here for a meal with work. I had previously been here when it was Fushia and thought i should give it another visit!

It's better and some, £12.80 for as much food as you can eat, it can't be beaten all the food is cooked to order and the choice is amazing.

We had 2 orders of Crispy Lamb & Duck pancakes, Best prawn srping rolls i've had, Sautee squid, Chilli Pork, Beef in oyster sauce, Spare ribs which were amazing, few chicken dishes, rice the lot, it was great.

Go here and take some friends you will have a great time and eat very well

Originally went here when it was called Fushia, and my partner and i and some chinese friends came here for a meal and we were absolutely Blown away, the food, atmosphere, and service was outstanding!

The surroundings are absolutely stunning, you couldnt ask for a better looking restaurant in which to eat a meal! The food more than easily matched up aswel, the mixed hors D'eouvres to start were the best i have ever had the pleasure of eating, perhaps the best starter i have ever eaten across all cuisines!

The main courses were all beautiful aswell, presented and served immacuatley, with extremly friendly and helpful waiters!

The evening was rounded off perfectly with some delicious and unique desserts!

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, it is by far the best chinese i have ever eaten, far better than Dynasty!

This is an absolute dinning treat! a feast for all the senses!!!

If you want to go for an excellent lunch for under £5 then go for their credit crunch lunch. You wont be disappointed! I recommend the soups and the mixed meat dishes - but actually all are good!

This is the place where I was properly introduced to dim sum ('name for a Chinese cuisine which involves a wide range of light dishes served alongside Chinese tea'_ Wikipedia). The food is good, the atmosphere relaxing and the service effective and subtle. Nice for group outings or your frequent dim sum craving. The daikon cakes, glutenous rice cakes on lotus leaf and egg tarts are my personal favorites and if there is any MSG involved in the making, I just didn't taste it at all.

Eventually I will move on to the main menu, I'm sure the quality will be the same.
