Home of one of the great world cuisines, cooked to authentic recipes and served by nationals dressed in traditional costumes. And all to be found in Chipping Sodbury, bizarrely. Siam Harbourside's mother restaurant was set up in that great Gloucestershire haven of eastern promise some thirty years ago and has more recently spawned this busy Bristol Harbourside offspring which offers gracious dining rooms but no waterside views.
There are several substantial set price menus to complement the extensive a la carte list, all the dishes "thrown together" in the traditional style. Mother and daughter are owned and run by Mrs Telfer who, as you would expect with a name like that, is also Thai.

This restaurant has recently changed hands and they have just changed to a new menu - it was the first day for it! We shared a generous starter (advertised for 2 but easily did for 3 of us) of typical Thai snacks (spring rolls, chicken satay, sesame toast) and then I had a very nice stir-fried duck dish, my companions both went for a beef stir fry which they also liked.

Good service, and the main food was really nice. The fishcakes weren't to my liking but the satay chicken starter did look good and there were a lot of ooh's and aah's when it came to the chicken with ginger for main.
We had the set lunch menu which was just enough to fill you up but not too much to make you feel heavy and bloated to go back to work.
Presentation of the dishes was very neat, even down to the carrots that were sculpted and looked fab!
Would go again but try a different starter.

My husband and I ate here on friday night. We have spent some time in Thailand so were expecting a vibrant flavoursome meal. But this is not what we got. My husband had the tom yum soup to start which lacked any depth of flavour and my pork toasts were greasy at best. Our mains were £8.95 each not including rice and were rather small portions. My main had a chilli rating of 3, their hottest, but we were unable to tell any real difference between this and my husbands chicken with cashew nuts.
The staff were pleasant but with a two course meal for two costing over £40 without alcoholic drinks this went little way to improving the experience.
There are much better, cheaper and to my mind, more authentic Thai restaurants in Bristol.

Went with a friend for dinner on Saturday night here. The restaurant was busy, with a mixture of groups. All the waitresses were wearing what I assume to be authentic Thai clothing and the service was very attentive. We started with beers and were given prawn crackers and then went for a duck dish and a yummy Thai Red curry. The portions were not the biggest in the world but the curries were exceedingly tasty. The thai curry was £8.95 with a further £2.00 for a rice so not the cheapest but the taste made up for it. If you like Thai food, I thoroughly recommend here. YUM !
