Set in an imposing stone building in the ultra-busy Whiteladies Road, Thai Classic is approached across an open paved area. Inside, the décor does not reek of Thai authenticity but it is a very tranquil contrast to the mayhem outside.
The food, however, is much more the real thing (red or green curries, fish cakes, plenty of vegetarian options), a tribute to the chef's top hotel training. The staff, too, are so authentic that English is sometimes a problem. As a result service, although charming, can be slow. Some have said that portions are a bit small but prices are very reasonable.

Picked up a takeaway from the Thai Classic and am very glad i did.
The food was fantastic. I'm not a great fan of Thai food in general but in this instance was more than happy with the Pad Thai and Noodles.
The restaurant wasn't that busy but I was still left waiting for a while to collect my order but the staff were very friendly and the food is great value.
Portions were generous too!

As a family we have been going to this restaurnat for almost 20 years and despite having visited many other thai and Asian restaurants this one remains a firm favorite for all. The staff are friendly and the food as fantastic.

A small Thai restaurant with a confused decor and seriously lacking any aesthetic refinement, thai pictures meet 50s British wallpaper with plastic tablecloths and an abundance of plastic flowers. The food and service more than make up for the shortfall in ambience however. The menu is large with choices from Thai, Malaysian and Singaporean, with so many choices it's hard to believe that everything is freshly made but other reviews assure they are (Venue Eating Out Guide).
The mixed starter for two was a delicious collection of small thai bites including the obligatory satay chicken and spring rolls, simply amazing pork patties and the mini basket of peanut, prawn and pork which was the star of the dish. The plate decorated with a very 70s tomato crown and side salad.
My main of deep fried cod with special spices and chili sauce was well spiced, the cod was succlent and the rice was nicely sticky. A fantastic dish and great value at only £7.50. Presentation isn't a string point, I'm not a fan of the novelty fish shaped serving dishes and those kitsch cut out side salad made another appearance.
Service was warm and friendly and the food was great, I certainly preferred this dining experience to the food from Bangkok House further along Whiteladies Road. A large mixed starter, two mains, a wine and two beers came in at just under £40 so great value too.
