This family-owned business originated over 40 years ago in Bangkok where the first restaurant became an award-winning establishment favoured by local politicians and celebrities.
The family’s eldest grandson, Vichai Kharmakharm, took the business to England, in 1986 opening his first “Thai Orchid Restaurant”, in Banbury. Six talented brothers and sisters gradually joined in helping the business gain an enviable reputation, capturing culinary hearts across the Midlands. Vichai says that the lasting philosophy of the restaurant has been to "provide a unique experience which embraces all of one's senses; to capture the warm and friendly atmosphere of Thailand and recreate it here in England".
In order to maintain the highest standards, ingredients are imported directly from Thailand by the restaurant, thus maintaining quality and authenticity. The group is now the UK's largest importer of Thai produce, and boasts the sole UK distribution rights to Chang beer, Thailand's best-selling beer. In this exotic atmosphere, enjoy magnificent Thai buffets at lunchtimes, and an impressive à la carte including a selection of delightful banquet menus, a wide choice of vegetarian meals and tempting home-cooked desserts.
From the well thought out menu, choose from dishes such as gai yang - chicken marinated in soya sauce, garlic, fresh chilli and coriander, and barbecued over charcoal; or koong mongkorn - fresh lobster stir-fried with cashew nuts, onion, pepper, soya sauce, oyster sauce and Thai herbs.

Have been to Thai Orchid many times over the last two years, the food is always amazing and the service is superb. The duck spring rolls are a particular favourite.
